Counting parcels

Currently in our office we are having to count all recorded, tracked and special delivery items. We also have to count standard size parcels and oversize parcels. This is adding a lot of time onto the prep.

No one will tells us why, they just say "its in our benefit"

Has anyone else done this or knows what its for?

It's so they can do a proper 'attendance call' rate but when they did it in my office the planners just ignored it (the didn't want to believe 50+ a day was the correct figure).

They had us counting empty slots and all our knocks until We decided to stop,let a manager count them when Your fully prepped if He wants to know

just done it in ours is so the planners can fake the amount they put into the computer so the computer says your round can be done and we think he's put the true amount in

They had us doing 3 times in the last 12mths,,, and they're still working on the revision

Its a continual boring exercise for call rates, until they get the figures they want, it keeps rearing it's boring head

Could they not just use the figures off the signed cards or if you are using PDAs, get the info straight off the system. In this day and age why have technology and then waste time doing things manually?

We done it twice before van sharing because the planners did not believe us on the first count. Too many they said you cant possibly have that many " oh yes we have " second count was more and they got someone from outside to do it !
It didn't make any difference because they put the figures they want in anyway

Like other people have said before,it's a pointless waste of time because the figures are ignored and just left up to the failed postie who has become a planner.

If its more than RM like it to be they will just use the "model" week to calculate it all. As always these counts happen during the "summer lull"

I told them to do it themselves as I don't have time and if they're not giving me anything for iti ain't doing it. I'm giving them no cooperation what so ever. Royal mail will do what they want anyway

However when the duties are displayed you should also ask for the model traffic week, the call rate and the attendance calls to be displayed for each walk.
If the real count is much higher than the figure displayed it will explain why people are having difficulty completing.

I was just asked to ESTIMATE how many recorded, tracked and special delivery items each day.
In hindsight I think I must have been thinking of one of those busy December days.

I cant believe We are having to count how many houses We have to knock at and how many missed calls we have on our frame at this time of year.Then the manager checks the computer and tells us how long we should go over by
