Covering walks. Good or rubbish end of the stick?

started as a postie a month ago and was given a walk for 6 weeks,Im really enjoying my walk and settling in fine. We have just started doing the paired loop walks and was told this week that some of the older postmen (or perms) have been asked if they wanted a fixed walk at a cost of reducing their hours which many have taken so ive been told my hours will increase by 2 per week taking it to just over 25 but I will be covering walks each day.
Although in some respects I feel I'll be able to learn a lot of new walks I also think my head might be up my ass for a good while because I'll be slow on my different frames and walks for weeks holding up my different work partners making things a bit frustrating for a bit. My fixed walk that ive been on took me two weeks to learn the frame but we have about 50+ different walks in our DO.

Holding up your partner. Being slow because you dont know the walk? etc etc

You dont have a problem. Just think about it.

Holding up your partner. Being slow because you dont know the walk? etc etc

You dont have a problem. Just think about it.

I was thinking mainly on the frame. Once im out I can only be as fast as the other postman.

O'Boy!.. Welcome to the real world..lmao

Don't expect anything else other than being moved from pillar to post for the next couple of years ..in that time you will get to know approx 60% of the walks in your DO.. you will be messed about by managers that have their own head up their arses' (never mind yours), you may even be sent to other DO's if they are short of staff..
So.. as you "settle in" .... DON'T GET TOO COMFORTABLE!!

Been a "leave reserve" for 5 years now and had to learn just about every walk in the office (48 walks),dont worry just take your time and you will find that the walks gradually begin to stick in your head and if your colleagues are anything like mine then they will help you if you are struggling.The fly in the ointment comes in the form of the management who dont give a flying f**k if you are on a new frame/walk and still expect you to help with the sorting and finish in your hours.

But at the end of the day its looking like i'll be in pairs as all this is new to the DO so I can only finish when my partner does. The only struggle i'll have is on the frame but im sure im not gonna be on my own. I guess before when Posties were on their own it would have been a lot harder learning a heap on new walks.
Im not too bothered being pushed from pillar to post because in a way i'll know most walks in the end rather than just a couple. Probably an advantage for more chance of overtime which is what I need.
