Working when your on holiday?

Anyone know where posties stand on this?

There was a Dispute in our office today where a postie was sent home 3hrs into his shift as the union got involved saying they shouldn't be near the building whilst on holiday.... Especially working!!!..

So, are you allowed to work, or not?

Is there an agreement somewhere I may be able to read.

It's a normal occurrence in our office as we're so short staffed at the moment. At least two were in this week for several days each whilst they were supposed to be on holiday. I think I'll have a word with our union rep in the morning.

Employees may not attend the office whilst on annual or other leave. This means that employees may not attend the office to work overtime or Scheduled Attendance.

To be fair employees may not know better but management should.

is it not good idea as you might not get your annual leave back. if you need extra money work on you day off or floating week off not annual leave time.

This sort of Sh**t really pisses me off, as already mentioned the CWU & RM have an agreement on this, it gets totally abused when opperational needs demand, the same as working your S/A on week off, you are PAID to take holidays as a need to recover from the stresses &strains of working life LAW, you are PAID for your S/A's twice a year for your loss of earnings AGREEMENT so why do peebs keep bitching on about it?? GREEDY LITTLE sh***s thats why

This really grates me if someone wants to work there week off that is there business not mine not anybody else s.Nobody forces them they probably need the money.I don't think working your week off is any different to working your day off both are there for rest but one is ok but the other isn't.And before you say it i DON'T work my week off.

Why work your holiday? Sometimes the holiday you get are not the ones that you want... Then you have a week holiday to book when it might suit you. Some people probably do not want to spent week/s at home doing nothing.

What has the summer hols go to do with it? For example, I prefer the holidays that I get in the bleak winter (travel cost is also cheaper). Not everyone has children to worry about in the summer.

Days off and holiday off are one and the same - in fact, days off might be worse in some cases. Some people like to moan about others and they are no better off ideologically...
