Another Complaint

So today an inspector approaches me with a complaint from the previous Saturday....I'm fearing the worst,lost another parcel etc ....NO

"Customer has phoned to complain that last Saturday Postman attempted to deliver a parcel and left a P739 card,her complaint was that I never attempted to "Neighbourize" it

Once I'd got over the fact that some halfwit probably on more money than me had made such a ridiculous word up...I then challenged the complaint ....how does the complainant know whether I attempted to "Neighbourize" her parcel or not...and that her Neighbour might not have been in?

I correctly provided a service that the customer paid for ....and followed the correct procedure when there was no answer,No DIM or inspector has officially told me that I must try neighbours if there's no answer at the said address... In any case...just how many Neighbours are we supposed to try before leaving a P739?

I can Imagine leaving a parcel at a neighbours address for the neighbour to deny ever receiving it...it's a stupid can of worms that shouldn't be opened ,and a loss of parcel lies at the doorstep of the postie leaving you wide open to a disciplinary

I don't know about anyone else but I do not have time on my duty to walk up the street knocking on Neighbours doors to try and get rid of a packet

Anyone else had a similar incident ?

Ask him to show you the agreement, which says that, because there ain't one. It's the OPG's decision to leave parcels to neighbours.

Saturday seems to be the day for parcel complaints. Had one that said I didn't knock the other week. If I'd have knocked any harder the door would have come off its hinges.

I always write in brackets next to the name/address (rang bell twice) or (knocked twice) if no answer

I cover numerous walks and recently have done alot of town packets,

needless to say I've tried numerous neighbours and had so many refusals,

that I've stopped trying, just p739 them!

I was under the impression that it was totally up to the post person whether or not to try neighbours, if a problem occurs after you give a parcel to a neighbour you will be ultimately responsible. b

I had a neighbour today stuck her head out the bedroom window to tell me that next door had gone on holiday .. "Would you like to take the packet," I enquired .. "Not bloody likely," was the reply, "I haven't spoke to that miserable sod for years"

Was out for 5 1/2 hours walking in 31C today .. knock on neighbour's doors ? .. you must be joking .. if they're outside or come out and ask if they can take it then fair enough but there is no way I'm knocking on anyone's door other than the person it's addressed to .. utter madness !!!

Had the area manager in several weeks back and when asked about this issue he simply trotted out the bare-faced lie that is "our analysis shows that it takes no longer to knock on the neighbour's doors and enquire as to whether they'll take it" .. I could only stare at him in disbelief and ask how he managed to maintain a straight face while saying it

The above post shows the danger of leaving with neighbours."Yes I will take it for them". Then puts the packet in the rubbish bin liner.A postman cant know if neighbours actually like each other.
