Full time to part time

Thinking of going full time to part time after a lot of years ftime ,,,good idea?. Pros and cons?

None of that tiring prepping just lovely enervating delivering
Less of those nasty black numbers on your bank statement to worry about
Less cash for your home help to steal when you're retired

Part-timers do nearly all of the work for half the pay. Unless you are a millionaire I'd stay full-time.

I'm part time and do 22 hrs. Some in my office do 34. It differs between offices, no need to be so offensive... I bet you are a joy too be around.

Difference of 10 hours is approx £100 gross less tax 20% & ni 12% and pension contributions 4.8% (after tax relief) so nett difference of about £63

I went from 40hours to 35 5 years ago,completely conned,do the same if not more save for 15mins later start,going back to full time next month.

Doesn,t work like that Jimmy, as any earnings over the personal allowance attract 20% tax, and also ni is charged at 12% above a lower limit. So effectively a person on 30 hours takes home a larger percentage of his gross pay than what a 40 hour guy does.
