If Royal mail had there way the new agreement would already be in , but it is not , yes local issues can be poor but you have to do things about it, go see your area union folks I do and often in my own time

As for national issues if you see dingo's message, meetings are going on this week with both RM and CWU,
End of next week all area reps are in london to discuss issues with what we voted on .

I expect soon after that within a month we will know more .

It is frustrating but right now and in the next 4 months we are going to need the union ,because believe me
royal mail management will just bully us out of a job ,

I have managed to stay in mine much to the annoyance of my manager , but if he has his way I would not be in a job and on the dole after 24yrs service it is not something I would like to happen to me.

There will be Comms going out to members next week , there is also a national policy forum next Wednesday and Thursday where it is expected that Branch's from all over the UK will vote for a policy in line with the members wishes on the consultation ballot which will lead to a ballot for strike action before the end of September.

Since the consultation ballot the CWU have been campaigning against the decision to privitiase Royal Mail and to attack our pension.

There is no chance of a pay deal unless Royal Mail offer a no strings deal above what there previous offer. Remember the pay offer was dependent on us accepting the pension changes , new changes to working praticises under the agenda for growth , a no strike deal , a new procedure for resolving issues of disagreement at local and area level and acceptance of a new IR framework linked to partnership.

On pensions why would we accept a deal which will mean that indivduals with service before 2008 will be worse off if future pay rises rise above RPI or if inflation goes above 5%. In additon this is only ring fenced for 5 years and further changes can happen. The EU gave stated aid less then 12 months ago and that saved Royal Mail over 300 million per annum is it any coincidence that the profitability went up ?

Vince Cables statement was nothing new apart from that they had moved to free shares rather then the postion they were saying to Billy and Dave discounted shares. Why did they move ? They moved because of the CWUs consultative ballot. Tye statement gave no date for the sale and remember a prospectus has to be published at lease 6 weeks before any sell. The Queen speech in October will almost start the election campaign in 2015 and the postcards to MPs are working they have to write to the Secretary of State and this is not a popular bill.

The CWU are meeting Royal Mail again today and tomorrow but there is not going to be a deal. We are miles apart on almost all issues.

You want Comms your get them next week. The media will also be at the policy forum in London next week. There is going to be a ballot. The CWU will never be able to complete with Royal Mail on Comms but we have a network of reps and mostly loyal members who will know when asked do you think you would be safe not doing anything to safeguard your pay , pensions and terms and conditions by supporting Royal Mail or do you want to stand up and fight with your co workers and members ???
