Womens shorts- any good?

I'm mad but up to now I've been wearing the new grey trousers in this heat! Horrible so I'm gonna try and order some shorts.
Are they any good?
How long are they? (i'm 5 ft 5) What materiel are they made of? If it's the same materiel as the trousers then I don't think i'll bother, your legs get so sweaty in them in this heat! Might as well wear my own navy cotton crops, much lighter.

Do RM do crop trousers or just shorts? (I hate my legs so I just wear under the knee length )

The shorts are long shorts not short shorts.
They are the same material as the trousers.
I would go with the 1980's football shorts for the men or some "daisy dukes" for the ladies.

The RM shorts are quite long and drop just below the knee on myself. You can roll them up and some do. They are way better than full trousers in this weather.

I'll tell you what veryn, when you get your shorts why don't you post some pics up on here. You know, one in your issue shorts and another of you in your own navy cotton crops. Just for research purposes you understand.

I wear the combat skirt it's great, it has that plastic clip and pocket like the shorts/trousers but it doesn't stick to your legs like the shorts can when it get really hot.

On a similar note.. Could anyone give me a heads up on what "appropriate clothing" is, particularly in terms of shorts?

First day tomorrow and I'm definitely wanting to be wearing shorts while it's hot. Don't want to waste money on a temporary wardrobe while waiting for uniform, jumped up to Tesco & Asda to get some cheap ones tonight but the stock was atrocious. I have some bog standard old Reebok gym shorts but not sure if sports clothing is RM "appropriate"?!

I wear my own cargo shorts with plenty of pockets ( you will need them ), the RM ones are a joke, trying to climb stairs with them on and they keep on pulling at your knees etc when sweaty

plus you end up looking like freddie starr's impression of Hitler with your boots on lol

dont wear anything too garish etc :)

PS: if you are a geezer, please don't wear Daisy Dukes

I wear the shorts! They arent very short but i roll my pair up a couple of times! They look ok but in this heat they are alot better than trousers. I wore trousers all last summer and it was horrible

I wear the shorts, I'm 5ft 8 and roll them up a couple of times to stop them catching on my knees when I walk up stairs. They are very long and do nothing for your tan line D:
