Had a note on number 2's door saying ," can you post all mail to no 6"
When I questioned it with the DOM he said its up to you!!
I posted the letters in no.2 and docketed the parcel at no. 2
But would anyone else had done any different as they like you to get rid of packets at neighbours
So could I have delivered the parcel to no 6 ?
Problem is that If it was a scam we would get it in the neck

I would have delivered as addressed. Yes, we can try neighbours for parcels but letters are a different matter. Sounds like they're trying to get a free redirection.

the bloke from number 6 could have stuck the note on the door when number 2 go work all day to steal there mail

Deliver as addressed. The conduct code is the usual result for doing customers any favours. Yes it's sad but you must play by the rules. Delivery to neighbour is discretionary and I certainty haven't got time. It does not include letters.

If they complain, absolutely nothing the Line Manager can say, mainly because they place the onus on us. Its either our decision or not. They need an official redirection or at least a written note to the office for letters or at least that's what I thought.

The DOM said its up to you!!!! What a cop out anything goes wrong and its your job on the line .
Simple answer deliver as addressed end of .

Exactly,the only time I would consider it,is if the note is stuck on the inside of a window and then I take a photo of it with my phone and still wouldn't deliver letter's only parcels.

Might make a difference - but then again there are always the peeps on here who eschew local knowledge ... and go by the (non-existent) book ...

Always deliver as addressed as stated above failure to do so usually leads to conduct code. Never and I mean never let a manager say it's up to you when it goes wrong and it will sooner or later they will lay the blame at your feet and have no knowledge of the conversation you only have to read some of the past stories on here to see that

Whenever a manager says something like 'it's up to you', it usually isn't. They are paid to make decisions

let them, ask directly for a decision, preferably in writing, certainly with a witness (Rep). If they won't decide, don't take the risk, as it will be you who ends up paying the price for it, if it goes wrong.

As far as I'm concerned, deliver as addressed, and if the customer complains to you, give them the customer services number, they will no doubt be informed about the redirection service we provide.

The only notes on doors I take any notice of are in December with the Queen's head and a '5', '10' or '20' on them.
