well our revison goes live monday and not looking forward to it at all im with a newbie with less than 6 months experince lol and im just thinking its gunna be a right mess

my fitting loooks like it will take me a while to get me head round it

We're goin live in a months time,,most of the senior guys with 15 years service and below have been left with terrible duties or had to become floaters or reserves. Part timers just in door have had the chance to get all the desirable duties ,,why?

Only you can answer that as it is your office and your repick.

It should be done on seniority with the exceptions of specialist duties, DDA and the obvious proviso that 2 non drivers can't pick into a park and loop pairing.

Goal posts will be moved like at our office, first it was a straightforward driver, & non driver, but then after the first few picks they then said we also would then have to have FT with PT, which totally balls's things up.

Not sure what to expect , although I'm sure it won't be great

ITS ALL ABOUT EFFICIENT PLANNING AND HONESTY FROM BOTH SIDES...

Absolutely, we have some fantastic walks now. mostly the same as they were before. Previously held by the old boys who do the job properly and gave the planners perfect information meaning you know that you don't have to cut any corners, don't mind waiting for decent amount of time for someone to answer the door and then try a neighbour or two and not even stressing about having to get lapsing done as on lighter days as you know that there will be time left.


On the other hand we have some monsters thanks to the early starters/runners input. These are only just do-able on the lightest of Tuesdays, not a hope in hell of ever doing lapsing. Dozens of attendance calls. Generally really awkward, zig-zagging across some major roads with only pedestrian crossings 1mile apart (was so fed up with once and a timed 4 min 37 wait just to get across once, have to cross it 6 times!) also a couple of really random ones where you have a random street nowhere near the rest of the walk leaving newbies extremely confused!!

we have 5 van shares haven't done any of them yet so can't comment but they are usually back at the office before me so they can't be too bad.

My revision comes goes live at start of september, how do you go about picking duties? only been with royal mail 8 months

the manager will ask people which duty they want provided no body else has picked it

How well your revision goes depends on how the office behaves as a whole. Unfortunately i work in an d.o. where more than 3/4 are early birds/runners so the week we went live, the folk trying to do the job properly were hauled into the DOM to be accused of 'underperforming' for going over! So the runners carried on running and getting back early and what do they say when the managers start piling on absorbtion'? WHAT'S THE UNION DOING ABOUT IT! - i work with idiots

P.S. If managers tell you that trolleys aren't compulsory and to 'use your common sense' if you want to use a shoulder pouch, this is a lie. The minute a runner has a trip/fall they're told that it's their own fault for not using delivery equipment provided so be warned

Just curious. Why does having an FT with a PT 'balls things up'?
