Uniform discrimination?

I thought I would bring this up, as I'm curious as to how others feel with regards to this. As we know, when working indoors and away from the public, Royal Mail staff don't need to wear uniform. In the Mailcentre, I work in, there are a lot of staff wearing the CWU 'Stay calm' T-shirts. The managers are making these staff wear hi-viz jackets, even though they're not working in hi-viz areas. The reasoning behind this, is because they're not wearing Royal Mail uniform, and because of this they must wear a hi-viz jacket. A hi-viz jacket is a item of safety clothing, it's not uniform, as such. However, managers, whom wear no Royal Mail uniform, aren't required to wear a hi-viz. When questioned about this, the reply is that Royal Mail doesn't supply managers with uniform so they don't have to wear a hi-viz. Surely, if the reason for wearing a hi-viz is no longer for safety and now because you're not in Royal mail uniform, managers must wear one too. Another answer given was for security purposes, so you can be identified. Again, this is non-sense, you have to wear a visible ID badge, the wearing of a uniform does not nullify the need for an ID badge. Besides, this logic would still mean a manager would be required to wear a hi-viz. My favourite though, is 'I'm a manager, what I say goes!'... How can you argue with that, eh? Anyway, I feel this is, in my opinion, slightly discriminatory. The hi-viz is, no longer, being used as the item of safety clothing, that it is, but rather as an item, of clothing, to differentiate between grades of Royal Mail staff, and more to the point, a tool to hide the 'Stay calm' T-shirts. Thoughts? Feelings?

AFAIK hi viz jackets are part of our PPE and are mandatory

ive seen managers in HI viz vests with MANAGER written on the back make them wear them

Manager's Hi Viz should have 'manager' on both sides ... so that staff are forewarned that the approaching figure is a manager

There's High-Viz vests for everything, Revenue protection, First Aiders, Managers, Visitors, Fire Wardens etc

Yeah, all the managers have now stopped wearing said hi-vis jackets, since the hi-vis areas have changed in the MC. The only managers that do now, are the ones that work in hi-viz areas. I much preferred seeing them approach. I'm curious as to know what is exactly mandatory for indoor staff, now. This seems to be a real vague area, as pants don't seem to trigger the hi-viz rule, lol!

Our DOM gets dressed in the dark,nearly always pink coloured shirts & a high viz,oh and winklepicker shoes,
we should be supplied with sunglasses.........lol

If you are required to wear a Hi-Viz vest in a specific area, then the same rule applies to managers.
If they're not required to wear it, neither are you.

If you are working indoors only, and do not work/are not required to be on the landing/loading area at any time, then you are not required to wear uniform. Maybe toe-tectors, in case you drop something on your foot. They would have an argument for Hi-Viz in case someone runs into you with a yorkie, but then that would also apply to them.

They are using it as an excuse to cover up the T-shirt.

What's the point wearing your own clothes, the uniform is free so wear that out instead.

Why wear a hi viz when our polo shirts are bright as fck anyway?. What next are they gonna come out with ,,so much things to sign for now etc too it's madness
