So with the looming privatisation they have been saying that current staff are likely to receive 10% of the shares.

Any estimated of how long you will have to have worked for the company to receive these?

I have been working in mail centres for coming up to three years. I started working on a graduate scheme and then continued for a further 15 months.

I'm classed as part time, 25 hours but recently agreed to move upto 30. I have been employed by Royal Mail for 20 months on a rolling temp contract..
Will i be eligible for the shares they are giving away after privatisation...or will i lose my job?

I understand peoples opinions and i approach this current situation with a totally open mind.

he only said eligible employees and never defined what the government or RM's opinion of what eligible was.

Is therea chance of me ever getting a perm contract, like a said i'm approaching 2 years service in September and was really going to push for it.
Just had my 25 hour contract boosted to 30 (awaiting paperwork)

i'm gonna guess you would if you are permanent.
however with your lack of seniority when the new owners close your MC you'll be be forced to sell them but wont be allowed. now depending on how long it is till you're out of a job will/may affect your benefits that you will not be allowed to collect. But its always nice to have worthless shares.

nearly 3 years on temp contract and we received over £80 quid x-mas bonus so hopefully receive share as well.

less than 6 months in............. and I'm on a permanent contract.

So as a Johnny come lately should I get shares but somebody who has been in the job for 3 years not get them simply because they're not "permanent" - my answer is that I shouldn't.

The only thing we can say for certain is that there will be winners and there will be losers, but I've a bloody good idea who the real winners will be.

my guess would be a year, but seeing they wont go on sale to march 2014, it should,nt be a problem for most!!!!

Don't worry about the "shares". Worry about what will happen to our terms and conditions if we get privatised. (I say IF because I'm still optimistic about it being stopped. Even Cable didn't sound that convinced).

Indeed feck the shares. They will end up being worthless on cashout time anyway. Nothing in RM is free!

You get a bank holiday but end up having a sheet cr@p week to make up for it. You get phantom shares as an incentive but end up with nothing when they are supposed to be paid out. These new shares however many you get, will all be worthless at the end of the three years. Someone, somewhere will make sure of that!

What matters is your working conditions, your pensions and your sanity.... don't sell out on empty promises!!!
