Hi we are going through a resign at the moment and have got down to the last few remaining duties one being the PHG, now two people are interested in this duty and we are being told that the manager has to interview both to see who is most suitable for the position bypassing the seniority basis then appoint him or her and carry on down the seniority list,we now have learnt that this duty has to be advertised externally??? we know our manager is not in favour of a resign because of the cock up of the so called revision so does anyone know how we stand or is this another delaying tactic. B

And suitability is simply whether you have been trained for the role so if both have it moves onto seniority.

Maybe no such Grade now, but the ex Phg`s still get £20 extra every week.Do the applicants get the £20? If so the they are on reserved rights and were Phg`s.

Hi Apparently we have been told today by our manager that the vacancy has to be advertised externally due to the fact 2 people want the job both qualified, which has F***ked the resign up delaying it again and denying at least 1 low seniority post person a regular round.B

It's £20 and has been since the Way Forward came in. It's been on my payslip every week since then.

I'm surprised the ex-PHG allowance has lasted this long. There was about a two year period after the Way Forward where you would lose the allowance if you moved to a duty which had previously been a postman duty. Once we got past that, RM could easily have done away with the payment as part of the various pay deals since then (e.g. by giving ex-PHGs a lump sum, consolidating the allowance into basic pay and then have us ex-PHGs marking time until OPG basic pay caught up with us)

As it is, it's quite unfair and divisive that I get £20 per week more than the person next to me for doing the same job
