What's the procedure for getting a day's unpaid leave, & how much notice is required?

I at one time offered to take a whole week unpaid leave and got rejected, if your a managers fav ul get it. Its amazing how when office is short staffed they can bring in folk from other offices though they wont grant u unpaid leave
