Hi how do you work out what mileage you are right to claim for?

My office is 8.1 miles away from my home. If I travel to a different officd which is more than 8.1 miles can I then claim mileage?

Unless the rules have changed since I left,the answer is yes.If the different office is say 15 miles from home,you can claim the difference ie 6.9 miles.

Isn't that if you have transferred because of office closure.

If you have been sent to another office on a temporary basis then according to the P&M07 agreement you should start work at your parent unit and then be taken to the other office. In this case, if they paid mileage it should surely be from Office to Office.

I'm not sure,in my eight years with RM I only worked at another office three times and each time I was told to report direct to that office and claim the difference in mileage.

I'm on loan to another office, all I can claim for is the distance from my parent office to the loan office.
As there is no official form to claim mileage, you have to keep record yourself, claiming it is one thing, getting it is another though, once I reach the point where they owe me £100, I stop using my car and insist on being ferried, that normally gets it in my bank account quite quickly.
