Alienating?
dear CWU Reps,
Do you not think this current strike, which your PR pushes as being two strikes, but due to it falling on the weekend might as well be one, is simply serving to alienate you from the public? I don't think your public support is going to get any higher...

Don't confuse public support with media spin. Remember ,we see tens of thousands of the public everyday, we rarely miss an opportunity to explain the facts of this backdoor privatisation and it's inevitably
dire consequences for the service you are accustomed to in terms of quality and ultimatetly price.
From personal experience, combined with reports from other posties I would guess conservatively at 95% total public support.
But you can't please all the people, and the leadership guru's would do well to remember that you can't fool all the people either.

To be honest it cant get any higher if we went out and delivered the mail while on strike. I am afraid any strike hurts the public, workers and business, but when you are forced into a corner my a management team that appears to despise its own workforce, whose pay offer is the only one, and we can take it or leave it, makes me in reality (not theory) £30 a week worse off (based on my wage this week), and having to work longer hours for no extra take home pay (ie make me work 50 but pay 40). Then withdrawal of labour is the final option.
Would you accept the offer as it stands.

To the post above, I think you are way way way off the mark if you're claiming 95% of the British public support you... But let's agree to disagree.pinstripe wrote:No. The simple truth is that RM have left us with no choice if we wish to protect our jobs and the SERVICE we provide. Why should we be blamed for alienating the public when senior RM management treat them with utter contempt.
Say you are alienating the public here with strikes (I mean, we're not going to get mail now until Weds at the earliest...), don't you think you're killing your own service by making the public think TNT et all look better?

Commercial suicide by senior Royal Management and they blame us for it.TomHodder wrote:To the post above, I think you are way way way off the mark if you're claiming 95% of the British public support you... To be honest, the CWU *and* Royal Mail are very hard to believe.... So I don't even know what the actual offer is! Both sides spin it so much...TrueBlueTerrier wrote:To be honest it cant get any higher if we went out and delivered the mail while on strike. Join a picket line and see the support we get from the public. Our message is getting through, more and more people are realising that the like of TNT need us to deliver. We speak to tens of thousands of people daily and slowly the public are waking up to what is going on.TomHodder wrote:To the post above, I think you are way way way off the mark if you're claiming 95% of the British public support you... So why not research for yourself and make your own mind up. Then come back and make your point we do appreciate an informed opinion..TomHodder wrote:To be honest, the CWU *and* Royal Mail are very hard to believe....
