14 years service and im gonna be a floater cause of the shambles of the revision . Not enough f time jobs duties now , people just in the door have all the desirable duties. Which are now all part time. Why has the union let this happen ,better off gettin a nice cold beer with my union sub money instead . Pi ssed off ,,,,,

Done 25 years and still only half way up the seniority list. They don't seem to be leaving my office think ill have another beer

Its because the 25% part time to full time 75% ratio 25% of all the duties need to filled first by part time staff it is hard not getting the duties you want but at least you have one just think of those who will get pissed around more than you will ever do!.

In my office two guys have 30 and 25 years in are floating spare due to the revision and have lost their rounds, I think there may be others as I haven't verified their seniority, I couldn't get my head round how that was supposed to happen.

thought I was bad moaning at 8 years service

and being dumped back spare with this crap 75-25 split.

all part time staff in our office are all below me in the senioity order but jump up cos the 75-25 split.

then I see hope

Only 25% of the vacant duties on a resign will be part time see your union rep ASAP!.

i have been ft for 9 yrs and under revision went floating yet other fts had own walk when i questioned this dom says thats just the way it is! also when this guys work there day off i have to change again to cover another walk!! i asked dom to train up staff so they can cover at least 5 walks he says we do not have time! so when staff work day off they are still doing same walk does anybody else have this problem and do they think this is fair! we had vote on a resign and majority said no because they are happy with walks! surprise surprise! union does not care either he says we might have resign some day can anyone advise what to do to come off floating or is it a case of if your face fits!?

If you cover this walk as part of your duty you work it, if the other bloke wants to work his day off then he should be covering the other duty.

We've got a situation like this too. We had a full resign about a year ago after the revision. We have a partial resign at the moment where anyone who signed in the last resign cannot sign this time, which is everyone except new staff and people who didn't sign before. A few good duties are up that people up the list want, but they will go to the new staff, leaving older people who had to go for floater stuck where they are and its causing a bit of tension.

Sounds like BS to me. A full p&l revision should have a full repick, then as duties become spare they should go up and be available for anyone to apply for. That's how it works in my office and some people have already had 3 different duties inside 2 years.

The only ones that are a bit p!ssed off are some non-drivers. They had to pick floating duties due to a lot of paired duties needing a driver, hence some below them on seniority who could drive got those duties.

Technically, when signing/picking a duty, you're supposed to have it for 12 months, and aren't allowed to pick into another during that time.
However, if a full revision has been done, then there should be a full repack with all involved.
It is likely the managers/DOM don't want people moving around to save on training people up, save on OT while people get used to new duties etc.

Does`nt anybody realise that seniority is against the law, it is excepted by the CWU, but it is against the law...and should not play apart in any workplace decisions

I'm the same ....just short of 16 years service...and I've ended up with the dregs

The part timers...some with less than 18 months service end up worth the best walks,I've been out the union around 5 years now...they've sold us down the river far too many times,il consider rejoining when Ward and Hays are no longer at the helm
