6 hour overtime reduces from 8

In our office they have reduced the hours on people covering rounds on O/T from 7.48 to 6 hours.
But this has caused problems on P/L with finishing times and meal relief.
One person on P/L now has to throw both rounds after starting at 6.15 am and have there meal relief at 7.10 to 7.30 on the 20/20 system.
Then at 7-30 due to all the people coming in later there is hardly anyone on IPS so they try to get the 6-15 staff up for that as well,
We even have the DOM and the line manager throwing off rounds and IPS which is ludicrous.
When the partner on P/L comes in at 8am the round is supposed to be ready for tying up which most days it isn't.
Also when is the person on 6 hours meant to have his meal relief??
Even if he has it taken off the end which the DOM tried to get us to do (which we are not supposed to do) it would mean different finish times.
All this to save RM a bit more money for Moya's bonus and profits.

Royal Mail can't force you to have 20 20 you are entitled to your full 40 mins you don't have to have 20mins at the end and they can't in force it, you should have a time in your 318 for your meal relief, if he trys getting you to take the full 40 at the end he is breaking the law.Regarding the overtime the best thing to do would be to agree as an office not to do any overtime until its sorted in your favour

If the office refused to do the overtime they would soon put it back to how it was, its not worth doing 6 hours overtime after tax travelling costs etc.

From what I gather, the manager has moved on to paying for the delivery only; but the prepping is now being covered within the office.

We get 6 hours to cover a whole round. So if you have 2 people doing equal share - they both get 3 hours. And so on - down to a few bags or a loop. The maximum the manager wants to pay is 6 hours just for the delivery. This is still a little generous as the actual delivery will probably take about 4-4.15 hours plus extra break and travel - about right!

We also get managers throwing off some mail especially for long-term-absent walks or for 27 hours folks on bastard rounds.

The only concern is that if manager wants to do that for full-time staff' absence then there will be pressure on preppers and IPS...

Yes I am talking about coming in on your day off but also the P/T staff were coming in doing IPS but that has now stopped.
It ends up with 2 maybe 3 doing IPS where before it was about 6 to 8 people and this then has the problem of people who throw their partners walks off having to go and help and then the walks are not being thrown off for the 8am staff on 6 hours.
The whole thing is a shambles

I will be amazed if a full-time staff comes in one his day off, start at his official start time and finish at official finish time (of course, he does) and yet gets paid 6 hours instead of 7:48 hours. No way!

As a part-timer on 32 hours, I will not come in to be paid 6 hours (except for Tuesday). It is now 6:30 or nothing. They have tried it on in this past, I complained and swiftly withdrew my OT labours for weeks on end; if when they correct the nonsense...

Just don't do it!

as a part timer i used to work days off when they paid 8 hours now they cut it to 6 hours so don't do any just wish every 1 would do the Same that way we will get the 8 hours back

As a part-time postie I do a lot of hours OT. Usually about 30 per week. I will NOT work for free though. I work hard but expect to be paid for every minute I work. If management disagree I just get my union rep to tell them.

If they tell me beforehand I get paid 6 hours only then I work 6 hours only. It's not rocket science guys.

30 hours overtime!!!!!!!!!!. i'm absolutely knackered when I've pounded the streets for 4or 5 hours,i must be getting old
