Testing prep and a testing dom

Post by mandelsons_toenail »

:Very Happy

Our Dom :left: allegedly today stood behind a postie with a clip board for his entire prep and noted everything he did, counted all mail, packets and even followed him to the bogs

I've told him that all he can test is the 1 min prep test, yet he's done this.

Our jobs are too big in places and georoute hasn't been kind at all :left:

The Dom is looking for excuses, our bsi for prep is 95, and this is achievable, however, even if posties are beating this time that they are scheduled out the Dom is saying you aren't quick enough.

A disagreement went in months ago and the process stopped but it seems to have reared its head again.

Is there any way I can go direct to area level here as frankly I'm furious and want this guys balls on a plate :cuppa

Our office isn't exactly militant, I'd like a walk out but more chance of seeing lord Lucan riding shergar along my route delivering mail.

Help

That doesn't mean he can't test various computer generated resource figures against actuals.
It completely depends on how it is positioned, how individual duties were selected and whether there were any accusations of poor individual performance.

What he can't do is apply the figures collected from this exercise to any member individually.

Ah ok.

Well ok, from what I gather he is looking to "blame individuals" for failing to complete these new deliveries.

Now hear me out, it's hard to say what I want without being obvious who I am

If a round is planned at say 4h 30m, bit in reality @ model week is taking 5h 30m, using the trolleys and working as a pair, so that's an hour over x 2 posties = 2 hours.

If those posties are allowed off ips say 30 mins early (1 hour total) then those rounds are still impossible @ model week.

To complete they would need to be off ips 1 hour early each (2 hours total)

My Dom fails to see this and is accusing the two of being slow, and of "using the trolley when they don't need to"

What if the Dom tests them both indoor and outdoor, round is shown to be bigger than planned, then he decided to use the IWT throughput as a performance measure for items per gross hour?

This isn't allowed right?

Well he's using it, what if he then goes down the performance route? Do I nail his balls to a barn door then or?

It's not fair on these guys, yet no one else gives a f**k :cuppa

Always remember that the IWT is an Office performance Tool, not an Individual performance tool, the out-door part of the duty is created in the Duty builder, IWT+DUTY BUILDER = 7hrs 48mins simples :wave :wave

But he is quoting items per gross hour figures and using them as a performance measure using the IWT

Eg oh billy is 13.4 items per gross hour
John is 7.9
Emma is 10.4

And so on......

So what do I do?

He has to test him from the start, with a clear frame, 1min. If there's any mail or door to doors then it doesn't count. Also if there are any double slots it is also invalid because the agreed rate doesn't account for double slots. It's just a scare tactic

Also if he wants to test the duty from start to finish he can but the union should also take part in this kind of test.

He cannot use the IWT as an Individual performance tool, the only accepted individual performance is the 1 min test, you need to remind him of this and also maybe contact your ADR, poss have a look in downloads for performance standards to stick up his/her nose :wave :wave

BSI should be 97% it used to be 95% but was agreed to move up to 97%
100% is impossible, there will always be discrepancies that will stop the 100% being hit

How this sort of test is considered even remotely fair is beyond me. The pressure of having someone stood behind you for that length of time is just not acceptable. It's like being put under a bloody microscope. Anyone who thinks it's fair has no understanding of the different personalities of the HUMAN BEINGS in their workforce. As such they shouldn't be doing the job. Just another example of bullying and abuse of position.

Using the trolley when you don't need to? It's hard to believe he'd be stupid enough to come out with that one. If he's breaking the rules on testing indoor prep, and you're still well within prep rate targets, the best thing you can do is laugh in his face and shoo him away.
