I've been to see the doctor on Monday where I was given a sick note to cover the next two weeks,I rang work this morning to tell them,manager rang me back to let me know atos will be ringing me tomorrow (Wednesday) wow they are on my ass quickly,don't know what to expect from this call anyone had any experience of atos,cheers in advance

Have had plenty of experience with ATOS which eventually led to me leaving RM under IHR.

This call tomorrow will be a telephone interview to find out why you are off sick,what medication (if any) your doctor prescribed and what you can and cannot do,they will then report back to your manager to decide what course of action to take eg light duties,that sort of thing.Never had a problem with ATOS at all but I have heard tales of people getting grief when ATOS contradict what their doctor has said.

I wouldn't worry about it at the moment,just answer their questions honestly and then wait and see what happens.

Same here..had no problem with atos...had an operation. .I wanted out...they paid me out...

Yeah I was the same THREE times . They just want to know whats up and what you are doing to get better .

They do but since verbal consent counts it's a pretty meaningless safeguard.

Well the consent form we use requires the completion of yes/no tick boxes and employee contact information on page one. Page two requests details of the employees medical practitioner and any agreed consent for information exchange between them and ATOS. The form needs the employees signature and no referral can made on-line until the Manager is in receipt of that form.

Atos referrals have moved online as part of the PSP system,the paper consent form is no longer necessary.

Making a referral to Occupational Health Service

Before being referred, the employee must give their consent. The manager should explain why they wish to refer the employee, the issues on which they are requesting Occupational Health Service, and how the information will be used. Although the consent need only be verbal the manager should clearly record the agreement.

The Occupational Health Practitioner will ensure that consent has been given, when they speak with the employee.

How to make a referral to the Occupational Health Service

To make a referral the manager should use Vista. This is an online process accessed through the Health Intranet pages.
Before making the referral, the manager should make sure that they have the following details available:
• Consent from the employee
• The employee’s personal details including their pay number, telephone number and home address
• Whether the employee is currently absent, or on modified duties, if so for how long
• Whether there is any known medical condition
• Dates when the employee would be unavailable to talk with the Occupational Health Service or attend an appointment
• Pay numbers for the referring manager and any other managers copied into the referral
The employee’s sick absence record will be automatically provided to the Occupational Health Service from the Royal Mail Group PSP system.

How to get the most value from a referral
The manager should:
• Clearly explain the reason for the referral and what the issue on which advice is needed
• Provide full details of the type of work the employee does and the hours they work. This will help the Occupational Health Service practitioner understand the demands of the role
• Share any issues that they have already discussed with the employee. Are there concerns about particular work tasks, or perceived barriers to returning to normal work?
• Explain whether duties have been, or could be, modified within the role

Vista allows a Choose & Book process online, the manager should talk with the employee so the manager can select an appropriate time and date of the appointment.

Had a phone call from ATOS while on delivery, caller couldn't understand why I was in the street. Once I got home, was phoned again, discussion included question- was I using my own bike for delivery or did Royal Mail provide one! Do they really understand our job?

Atos are a bunch of nobs , in collusion with RM ! They gave me a medical over the phone after being off work for only 2 weeks , when I had broke 8 ribs and punctured lung ! I ended off for 3 months on my Drs orders not Atos , they aren,t even qualified !!

But they do have an agreed script to read from.
Think they do RM's bidding too. Basically only there to get people back to work ASAP, whether fit enough or not.

Well atos can kiss my hairy arse unfortunately I have been diagnosed with cancer hope next time they ring they don't ask me stupid questions like they did the last time,can I stand up ,can I sit down,have i been shopping,I thought is it a trick question lol if I'm not standing I'm usually sitting you could tell she was reading from a script and the questions were thick and fast as if they are trying to catch you out any way the upshot was that she thought I wasn't fit for work that was the week before I was diagnosed,got to wait til Tuesday to get the results of a c.t scan,my manager has said they will probably ring me some time after Tuesday can't wait lol,depending on the results I just don't want to be written off by work too quickly I know we all moan about it but I wish I was out on delivery now I think I'd even go over,no your right I'm getting carried away
