Pay been stopped

HI guys I am currently off sick this week starting from Monday, I tried to phone line manager constantly on Monday to say ill be off sick but no answer so after about 45mins decided to phone union rep and tell him and to pass on the message, not a problem I thought. Now this morning I received a phone call saying as no contact has been made by myself I have been docked 2 days wages.

Is there anything I can say/do to claim this back? Many thanks

the new attendance procedure does cover this off. At first glance (surprise surprise ) your manager seems to have jumped the gun,
It is yours and their responsibility to make contact, If nothing more from their point of view other than to ensure you have not passed away.
You must continue trying to get in touch until you do, then tell them how long you've been on the phone for.
If you are able, go in.

Ok thanks, they never answer office phone and I received 1missed call whilst I was asleep tried to return but not answer once again, really annoying.
I told union rep who's well in with management and he said no problem. So there no chance of reclaiming money lost?

Perhaps they don't have an answer phone. I think you mis-read his post though, when I read his 2nd post my first thought was exactly that, but hey lets not pick up on his grammar, he is unwell after all.

send in a letter on day one of your illness using a xmas free stamp, your dom will then get said letter next day :)

Best way to do it, is to ring up and tell someone on the night shift. If you have night workers that is, and know you're too unwell the night before.
You've got to understand that line managers will not answer the phone for fear of it being a job or problem, that needs solving. They avoid it at all costs.

For them to have stopped pay the manager has decided it is unauthorised...he's a cock and is supposed to also have attempted to contact the employee before deciding to stop pay.

What happens if the employee does not make contact and is absent

Where an employee is absent and has not made contact with the manager,the manager should attempt to contact the employee.This should include several attempts before recording the absence as unauthorised.
