Is it just me ,I see what the CWU are doing and Unite, calling for industrial action ,neither union blessed with good leaders ,then I see what RM are doing .
I get flash backs to the miners strike who walked straight into a trap set by Maggie, it finished a union and its leader who at the time appeared to be one of the most powerful men in the Country .
In chess when ever you move you anticipate your opponents next move.
I wander if we take action just what the senior Management will do ?
Senior Managers must have a game plan ?
Just my thoughts.

There are four possible scenarios to consider...
1.Royal Mail do not think the CWU can engage it's members at the level necessary to commit to Industrial Action and they are calling our bluff.
2.Royal Mail think they have enough to offer the CWU in the way of pay and security incentives to secure a deal that will avoid Industrial Action.
3.As you say Royal Mail are provoking the CWU into Industrial Action in an attempt to break the union pre-privatisation.
4.They are a bunch of clueless muppets.
It doesn't really matter our choice is pretty much the same no matter the scenario.
Support the union or don't.

If strike action is the last thing a prospective buyer wants then surely strike action should be (errr how can I say it) looked for, from our side. I know people are saying the members aren't up for it..... but its not what I am seeing on the floor, and its been such a long time since we have had such a good hand to play when even the worst case scenario (strike) hurts RM so badly!

This is a huge call for the union and they cant afford to mess it up this time. Moral is at its lowest and moya and her cronies need to be told we're sick to the back teeth of this management. Unfortunatley a few of us have to take a serious look at how we work. Coming in early, not taking a break should be first to go!

Either way nobody can ignore a 74% turnout with 95% in favour in all questions, Royal Mail or the prospective buyer that is currently pulling the Pension plan strings.
I have never seen my fellow workers so united against Royal Mail, never. It does help that we have the most inept DOM we have ever had and the most corrupt (yes corrupt) line managers we have ever had. But local issues aside we have a workforce that is united in its aims. How united they are in the method to achieve those aims remains to be seen.
The worst thing the CWU should do is make any agreement over one year, we have to keep the flame burning year on year otherwise our four cornered argument gets divided, and support will be lost.

do the general public care, loads of other carriers, most bills can go electronic, the union should have spoke out about 4 years ago when dsa, started.

Could royal mail get it done if there is combined boycott of DSA and managers stike say for 2 weeks. Will the delivery staff and mail centre staff be able to work.

Markets don't like uncertainty, good or bad they like to know which way the wind blows.
The consultative ballot shows that the members support their union and its aims.
There is no mandate for action.
I do not believe boycotting mail would be legal, not because i am an expert or have the required knowledge just it doesn't seem/feel legal so i have to go with that.
I would happily be proved wrong.
RM would never admit to it but they support the boycott of competitors mail, its more money for the same old rope to them.
If i was a prospective buyer i would ignore the boycott of mail and the issue of privatisation, that leaves me pay and pensions both of which are or would be major factors in any offering price from a single investor or share price offered from the markets.

Anyone know when this boycott is likely to take place? If it does will posties have to segregate competitors' mail on the frame or will it be separated at sequencing stage? If the former then that's quite a job if you include parcels non sequenced mail etc.
