Reporting your concern
Speak Up is a web-based confidential reporting service operated by InTouch, an external and independent company. Royal Mail subscribes to this service so that you have a secure way to report in confidence - and anonymously if you wish - genuine concerns about actual or suspected misconduct, malpractice, illegal or unethical behaviour in the workplace, and which you are uncomfortable about raising through your line manager.

If your concern relates to your terms and conditions of employment or is a disciplinary or grievance matter then you should follow the established policies already in place at Royal Mail and not make a report via this site.

If your concerns relate more to bullying or harassment by someone in the workplace you should initially raise the issue with a manager who you feel you can confide in.

If this is not possible, or the situation is particularly serious, you should contact the Bullying and Harassment Helpline on 0800 5874777.

If your call relates to a security matter you may wish to contact the Security Helpdesk on 020 7239 6655.

If you leave a message using this webpage it will be forwarded promptly to the Royal Mail Speak Up Team who will investigate and act on the information in the most appropriate way. The SpeakUp Team are independent of line management and will treat anything you wish to report confidentially. Neither your email address nor your IP address is captured and reports submitted via this service remain fully confidential unless you indicate otherwise.

When you use this service you will be given a unique case number and password. You will need these to access a response from Royal Mail or to leave further information about what you have reported.

To help investigate your concern fully, please try and be as specific as possible about, for example, when and where something happened and if anyone else was involved or is aware of it.

Remaining anonymous
Although you may file a report anonymously, we encourage you to provide your name and contact information as remaining anonymous might hamper Royal Mail’s ability to conduct a thorough investigation into your concerns. If you give your name your identity will be treated as confidential by Royal Mail and won’t be disclosed to anyone outside of the Speak Up team without your permission.

When checking back or wishing to leave further information for an incident you have reported, you will need to enter the Case Number and Password given to you when sending your original message. The Royal Mail Speak Up Team will normally acknowledge receipt of the details of your call within 15 working days, and will where appropriate also provide subsequent feedback, or if necessary ask for additional information about what you have reported.

speaking of ''whistleblowing'', there is a few in our office talking about it. as of late there has been a lot of instances where people cannot complete their delivery, and the management are asking us to 'stand down' our packets in order to deliver ALL mail. now call me cynical,,,,but arnt we meant to be primarily a PARCEL company managing a letters decline?? some of these packets are left for nearly a week if they dont have anybody to cover them on overtime. inevitabley, they are left until a tuesday eventually comes round and we end up doing them anyway!! people have paid good money to have these parcels delivered and are rightly waiting for them to arrive as soon as possible.,,,they are certainly not waiting for their junk mail to arrive. when i am asked by people on my delivery about a parcel,,some of whom ive known for years, i feel totally shyte having to lie for management. shouldnt be happening. its just not working and they know it. why cant they leave the junk mail and do the packets? :evil/mad

How can you 'stand down' packets to deliver ALL MAIL? Packets(well parcels now  ) ARE mail. If that was you or one of your colleagues, then that would be wilful delay, but as it's a manager, it's an 'operational necessity' I bet.
If you all stick together, then report it, 1st class is 1st class.
And as you say, we're supposed to be a parcel company managing the decline in letters, yet they are always the first thing to be put to one side...... :d'oh!

Yes, i fully agree with all sentiments, but unfortunately this is RMs' loop hole as pkts arn't part of the USO agreement, only letters.

But the emphasis will have to change when we are taking more parcels than letters in the near future, won't it? :left:

The USO will only decrease once we're privatised, not widen!

If we cut off and there's no-one to cover we are told to leave packets as well, all of them if need be as the mail has to go. It doesn't bother me, I'll take whatever they say until my time.

Last week our DOM was doing a walk himself that was cut off :nana

First off it was a joke. Second, I was merely pointing out how contradictory RM are.
And third, I do kind of agree about the possible reduction in USO terms, I wouldn't be surprised at all if RM try to out it altogether.

Opposite for our DO. Always told to take packets and leave letters. Seems more sensible as it is easier to do loops than packets. :hmmmm

If you are going to whistle blow, its best to do it anonymously, you don't get prizes for sticking your neck out these days regardless of the high minded legal protection afforded to whistleblowers, your card will be marked and they will do everything to make your life hell.

Past whistleblowers have found this to their cost.

It is better to be cynical and protect yourself, don't do an Edward Snowdon, good honest intentions counts for nothing in this world, he should have leaked his information anonymously and still be in his job while making a difference.

You have to be pragmatic to be ahead of the game with these types of people who don't like being showed up and will do anything to get you regardless of the consequences, thats the reality of it unfortunately.
