Most of you will know that the union had to appear in the high court and give a commitment that they would call no industrial action based on the consultation ballot result. The CWU had to give a legal declaration that they would not call strike action over the result. It is clear that Royal Mail's aim from the injunction is to stop The CWU from legally balloting on a trade dispute ie industrial action which will potentially kill the intrest from investors on privatisation.

Members now need to decide ! Support the arguements of the past or fight for your future. There is no longer a fence to sit on !!! Remember priviatisation will mean less terms and conditions in order to pay the share holders the profits.

Time to fight is coming .

The possibility of IA is scaring the crap out of RM.
They know it will put off pretty much all investors that are interested.
We need to vote for it, give them a date, and watch them squirm. And probably back down, or at least secure many concessions that we otherwise have no chance of getting.
Sometimes, I wish I wasn't a Rep.

Deja vu comes to mind.

I remember what happened last time, and the time before, and the time before that.....

Members have supported without question

The CWU have struck deal after deal over the last 10 years and every time we have had to give up more & more of our T&C's in exchange for a small payrise & a lump sum, all endorsed & encouraged by the CWU HQ.

The jobs Sh*t now, and the current CWU leadership have helped RM achieve this.

Why will this time be any different

in comparison to firms who do similar things, the job at royal mail is not s**t. the terms and conditions are market leaders in our field, and so they should be, because we are the royal mail, not some crap back street courier. the reason t and c's are good is down to the union and its membership. if the membership can't be arsed to try and protect what we have and improve them, so be it. we will get what we deserve.

at the risk of sounding like someone else who posts on this forum....

Are the union fighting for the ordinary members or for the protection of the full time release members?

Can you elaborate on how you see the first engagements of infighting taking place and possible time scales.

call me cynical, but when will Brendan Barber get involved? I ask because in previous IA times he's been rolled out during a stalemate and the CWU and RM come to agreement, with front-line staff shafted.

Members have time & time again gone to the gate, only to find that the only deal on offer from the talks was a REDUCTION in our T&C's ( sweetened by a lump sum & a recomendation to vote YES to accept it )

Take a look at the post over the last 3 years on here, B&H is rife within RM, the last strike was triggered by unacceptable saving based targets. "This agreement will end this" said the CWU & RM in joint statements "Vote yes". But we're back at square one,
The CWU need to nip RM's crazy plans in the bud, not go alone with RM in joint statements as they have over the last few years.

strong union people have lost faith in the CWU as they have seen the CWU get into bed with RM

Pension change should have been tackled in 2008
DSA should have been tackled when it first emerged
PHG grades should have been protected
Early deliveries & night shift's should have been protected
D2D money should have been protected
Overtime rates, driving allowance, SA rates & saturday attendance should have been protected.

all of these have been sacraficed for an increase in basic pay.

Money isn't the "B" all of everything

RM have played the CWU like a fiddle

This is a time to stand together and support the CWU locally and nationally in the battle that lies ahead, as per the ballot result. I for one, am pleased to have the CWU fighting my corner as Royal Mail management would hit us even harder if they were unchecked. Yes, we would all like better deals to achieved on our behalf but concessions from profit hungry employers are often hard won. This is the real world - expect to get shafted at every opportunity - it happens all the time outside RM.

I thought Brendan Barber had retired from TUC?

Lincox lots will happen but my predictions is that the CWU will hold an special conference in late July and a strike action ballot in September to defeat privatisation , the attack on pensions ,the setting up an alternative work force on similar pay scale as The TNT staff on 7:10 per hour to deliver the parcels , tracked , PS and growth in unaddressed items , individual performance standards and more flexibility inclUding removing duty holders to Create absorption. In addition Royal Mail's pay offer over 3 years is dependent on the union surrendering on pensions and agreeing further modernisation proposals.
