When we work together, we achieve a lot.(love bomb) Working with CWU (association/transfer)we have delivered significant change which has benefited all of us(The lie) e.g. a new regulatory regime.(Obfuscation) So, our decision to take legal action was not one that we made lightly.(Rationalization (making excuses))

We understand the concerns about the growth of Access/DSA mail(common man/bonding) and the potential impact of growing direct delivery competition. We don’t think that a threatened refusal to handle Access/DSA mail is the right or appropriate course of action. (Dictat)

That is why we lodged an application for an injunction to prevent the CWU from inducing its members employed by Royal Mail to refuse to handle Access/DSA letters and parcels. (Rationalisation/Repetition/Scapegoating/Demonizing the enemy)

The CWU has, in the High Court (on Wednesday 19 June), given an undertaking not to induce its members employed by Royal Mail to refuse to handle Access/DSA letters and parcels.(inevitable-victory) This is pending a further hearing at the High Court on Friday June 28.

A new agreement

As we’ve said before,(Repetition) we’ve been talking to the CWU about what a new agreement looks like. We have put forward in writing, on a closed offer(Black-and-white fallacy) basis, to the CWU leadership, a new agreement covering a three-year pay deal, protection around our pension scheme, and important safeguards relating to terms and conditions(virtue words/Euphoria) if Royal Mail is sold.(Fear, uncertainty, and doubt)

If 75000 posties choose to boycott DSA, I can,t see RM giving out P45s to all of them. After all it will fck the governments unemployed figures straight away. No chance. Fish has analysed the response to a tee. Propaganda and all the hallmarks of a cornered rat, fighting to get out of a corner that it has found itself in.

If 75000 posties choose to boycott DSA, I can,t see RM giving out P45s to all of them. After all it will fck the governments unemployed figures straight away. No chance. Fish has analysed the response to a tee. Propaganda and all the hallmarks of a cornered rat, fighting to get out of a corner that it has found itself in.

yeah but what if they handed out p45s to some of us,say to anybody serving a suspension? which could get round any discrimination accusations? I dont think anybody wants to be a martyr in this dispute,Im only guessing about the above but FT has already said in another thread that official IA is the only option we have.

If it ever gets to the point of a postie having to become a target to get its point then not have only Royal Mail lost the plot, but by then the CWU would have lost any control over the dispute.

I don't think any postie is going to be asked to boycott DSA without a legal valid ballot and that is going to be very difficult. To keep control of the action the CWU would have to explain in great detail to everyone willing to take the action what is legal and what isn't, otherwise the first time someone is suspended for supporting the action then wild cat action will start to spread. It won't be isolated units either, in my estimation it would literally spread like wild fire.

If it does go wild cat then its possible that the Unions Accounts will be sequestered and the Union sued, for that reason the Union won't want to lose control.

However, as soon as the CWU commences the process of getting a legal action started on boycotting the DSA items, then RM will without any doubt start legal proceedings and will try to delay any action as long as possible.

My thinking is that getting members to actually boycott DSA is a last resort, it might happen, but if it does it will be messy. This is power politics between the CWU and RM and both are jockeying for position.
