I can't remember if I was watching ITV or BBC but it flashed "Postal Workers stage 2 day strike"
So not only was it short but it was very innaccurate. I'm not suprised though, I have been telling people for many years not to believe what you see on the news. For a developed nation the amount of propaganda that gets on the news is embarrassing.

The big problem is that TV News is now a big business. All except BBC want to attract customers to watch their adverts, if they do this they can charge the advertisers more money. In an attempt to do this they sensationalise the news and dumb it down to the lowest common denominator.
In the case of the BBC what used to be a liberal forward thinking institution which was once regarded as left wing, is now completely subsumed by New Labour and their Tory view on life and business. You are not a success unless you have millions in the bank and share holders that are also rich and happy. Gone are the days when you could say publicly I am a working man, providing a service and proud of it, without being ridiculed.

seen billy hayes on bbc news 24 on interactive button and he was a complete embarrassment going on about northern rock and government bailing them, out instead of telling the public the real issues. if this is the best the union can do then no wonder we are in such a state. all my customers gobsmacked when i tell them of royal mail proposals.

Mr Hayes, do as politicians do and answer the question that you want to and not the one asked.
The CWU and its members recognise the need for modernisation and if necessary the requirement to compete in an open market. Firstly the Government must allow RM to compete on an equal footing with our competitors by withdrawing restrictive practices currently imposed on RM.
We are not prepared and will not except any proposals from RM that effectively cuts our members wages and strips them of their current pension rights. We will not except flexiable working whereby under current proposals RM can change our members start and finish times at will. And if small businesses, and the Public are not happy with the mail arriving after 1.00pm they had better be prepared for it to be arriving even later as RM are forcing, without agreement, later start times meaning mail leaving the sorting offices even later.
Also one other point, I would like to raise. How can the Chairman of RM also be on the board of one of RM’s main competitors without there being a conflict of interest? His none appearance at the latest talks speaks volumes for his desire to solve the current dispute.

About 2 mins coverage on our local ITV news, cameraman came down to picket line at lunchtime to do some footage of us standing outside building. No interviews tho
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets
Illegitimi non carborundum

I think it is SA. The bloke on the ITV report says what he does nearly word for word.
2 Points about his statement:
1. What does he think a ballot is - I thought that was when the union went to the members and get an idea of their acceptance of the offer.
2. He says the union are not going back to the members and getting ideas of their positions regarding the offers. Well on the other site if you keep deleting non abusive posts just because you don't agree with them its no surprise that they don't visit your site to get a balanced view. I suspect that senior CWU people do lurk on here to get a feeling of what's going on, and if they do they know we dont delete or ban people for an opposing view just if they are being continually abusive, or are here for no reason but trolling.
By the way trolls are easy to spot they attack peoples views but don't present their own. We all know a few who have been in and out of this forum. I personally like them as it is fun to watch the attack dogs (figuratively speaking) go at them.
