WEEK OF ACTION!!!
Every day i come home shattered, unable to do anything in the afternoons due to fatique, because of these unacheivable walks they have fostered on us under the guise of park&loop, if and when we get a vote for industrial action, surely a week of doing the job properly would be the first point of action, it would create mayhem in my office!!!

Re: WEEK OF ACTION!!!
A sudden and organised change of practice like that would create mayhem, but not necessarily in a good way.osgoody1970 wrote:surely a week of doing the job properly would be the first point of action, it would create mayhem in my office!!!
Royal Mail management's position would be that the office is already resourced to "do the job properly" therefore any failure would obviously be a performance issue.
Next step would be a manager at the end of each aisle and people being conducted for petty and in some cases made up reasons like deliberately working below standard.
Doing the job properly should be the default position already, especially if your office is struggling post revision,If it isn't it's pointless trying to organise it for a week because it won't last 5 minutes.

Re: WEEK OF ACTION!!!
I used to go in early and rush round my route like a mad man. I think i did it because my colleagues did. After a weeks holiday my outlook changed. I thought what the hell am I doing. Never again. I take my time. As long as I finish within my paid time I'm happy. And I'm not exhausted when I get home. Dont rush around trying to be the first back. The managers will only reward you by giving you more work in the future.

You don`t need a vote for industrial action, just do the job properly in the first place.osgoody1970 wrote:Every day i come home shattered, unable to do anything in the afternoons due to fatique, because of these unacheivable walks they have fostered on us under the guise of park&loop, if and when we get a vote for industrial action, surely a week of doing the job properly would be the first point of action, it would create mayhem in my office!!!

Re: WEEK OF ACTION!!!
These colleagues you criticise are bullied and harassed into feeling they have to complete the job at all costs. Not all offices have reps, or even area reps, who will actually stand up to management.arthur was right wrote: ROYAL MAIL IS RUNNING ON THE WEIRD GOOD WILL OF ITS WORKERS, MANY WHO ARE TOO FRIGHTENED TO SAY ANYTHING
Once the coming in early/running/not taking breaks/bags back on shoulders/working overtime unpaid to complete lapses etc sets in as the norm, anyone wanting to do the job properly starting on time/ refusing to work over gets isolated and further bullied.
It's RM's main management strategy.
I haven't been in an office where people "do the job properly" and , as a reserve, I am often sent to other offices.

Spot on! Good advise for newbie like myself or others. Since working with RM my body ruined completely I am not sure why people think that postmen/women are fit than others?!! I DONT FEEL SO.RoyalSlave69 wrote:I used to go in early and rush round my route like a mad man. I think i did it because my colleagues did. After a weeks holiday my outlook changed. Re: WEEK OF ACTION!!!
mate im totally with you. most of the time if im gonna be late back its like only half hour or so which i can take so now i dont rush, i book the half hour if im allowed or if its needed. no point in cutting the job up and costing other jobs in the long run.RoyalSlave69 wrote:I used to go in early and rush round my route like a mad man. staff coming in early....so what do you expect the union to do about that?arthur was right wrote:Any idea what the CWU are doing about the way RM is screwing its workers? STAFF COMMING IN EARLY... staff not taking Breaks...what do you expect the union to do about this?
staff breaking health and safety rules...you don't need a rep to hold your hand to report a health and safety issue.
Many are frightened to say anything

Re: WEEK OF ACTION!!!
If you ran your own company and had staff starting work early for free and not taking a meal break and working instead then i am sure you would turn a blind eye to it as well because it's free employment.
Only the individual workers can change this by starting work when they should and by taking a break.
