It's s**t man, they quote "operational needs" at you when you eventually rumble the bastards switching your rare Saturday to a Tuesday as its easier for them.

Even post revision I'll be faced with the same bollocks, rep is trying to sort something out for us reserves to make it "fairer".

i guess its varied from orifice to orifice,
when i was a reserve i put in a few requests for it to be looked in to, nothing happened even when the onion rep was brought in,
just got told if i had to have a saturday off to book a holiday and if it got to 4/5 weeks then just make a comment about it coming close, but not much chance of a sat/mon off, and our managers are quite approachable and do try if you push them.
not good to plan a long weekend away while ever a reserve though, treat like crap

Every time this crops up, I don't understand why reserves are treated any different to fixed duty OPG, we are mainly a 1 week off in 6, but still have a few rolling days, reserves and fixed are treated the same - 1 long weekned off every 6 weeks. I don't see why all Area reps don't make sure this is the norm, especially if the local rep can't get it sorted out locally because of a PITA DOM.

Because the original question is unanswerable, and to be honest the disrespect you show to others posties on here, and your obvious trolling techniques don't lend me to answering your questions before others.

There is no specific entitlement to getting Saturdays off - I personally have not had one in 10 years.

Can RM make you work 12 months without a Saturday - Yes and No -

It depends on what the local agreements are and if you have rotating days off. If you do then reserves and part timers should get the same chances as full timers and fixed duties otherwise its unfair. However as most duty holders tend to plan leave to coincide with a Saturday off, its unlikely a reserve will ever be on a duty that has a Saturday off so it can difficult for management to arrange.

If you are on fixed days then it is a little unclear if you should get a certain amount of Saturdays off as no one else does (except those lucky enough to get a duty with a fixed Saturday off) but normally the day off of the duty should remain the same for the reserve covering the duty as it is for the holder.

Work five with week off.

Royal Mail know this, just need decent area rep to sort it.

Now if you could get a Regional Finance Director to sign it.

Some Area Reps were responsible for blocking 1 in 4 saturdays in certain areas.

i get 1 in 6...pretty much everytime. i normally tell my rep about 2 weeks before when its due. he's pretty good but im aware that some reps arent great too.
