operational requirement ,, managers get out clause ?

i have a manager who cannot stand me ,, he has had me up 3 times for dismisall ,, and failed ,, i am now on a 2 years suspended from the last time as they would have looked stupid not doing anything ,, i was a reserve for 10 years and enjoyed it ,,but the only problem i had was i never got a long weekend off ,, coincidence or deliberate ? ,, i dont know ,,
so when we had a revision i decided to sign on a fixed duty ,, less chance of making mistakes ,, easier sorting etc ... a nice way to keep my nose clean for the 2 years of my suspended ,, and the added bonus of going on a rota so i get 1 in 6 (we didn't vote for 1 in 4 )
when i started on my new duty i got bumped on to another duty for a week ,, operational requirements was cited ,, as i was trained on the rural and others were needing trained ,, fair enough ,, but it meant i missed a long weekend ,, now my next long weekend is coming up and surprise surprise ,, the same again ,, and also 6 weeks after that , im due a shift again to another delivery to bollox up another long weekend and when i got the rep to query this he got quoted ,,operational requirements
has anyone else had to put up with this ?? hopefully my rep will sort it out

If the duty is yours permanently they cannot change your days off without your permission.

we get quoted if you have more than 3 weeks notice then they can ,,and i am the signed duty holder

I've never heard of that before,it could be an agreed rule with the c.w.u i'm not sure.

If they have given you 3 weeks notice to change your day off, which I think is bullshit anyway, then that would mean they have 3 weeks in which to train someone to do the duty they want to put you on.
As far as I aware they cannot change your day off, or attendance times, but can change your content without notice.
You are still entitled to 1 in 6 Saturdays off, even if you get it delayed by a week, and then your next one would be due in 5 weeks obviously.
I wouldn't let this happen. I'd have arranged to go somewhere on my long weekend, so would be unable to change my day off.
From your OP, I think it is likely that the manager wants you to kick off so they can start further proceedings against you.
Get the Rep, and Area Rep involved to get it sorted, if not file a grievance. It should also be noted that if you are the only person being asked, and no one else is losing their long weekends, then technically you are being treated unfairly, as I was under the impression that people should be asked in turn to 'take a hit' in these types of situation.

sorry your rep is talking bollox when they try to move you say sorry my long weekend and i have made plans anyway if they give you 3 weeks notice surely its not operational requirement but bad management planning or a simple case of bullying and harassment go higher to the area rep or even ring cwu head office

It is true that they can move you for operational requirements to cover duties you know but like what you have been told before they cannot change your day off without your permission although they will try.

Stick in a grievance against the manager and see what he does then but also talk to the area rep especially if your local rep is no good, this type of bullying from managers needs to stop.

If I was you I would also be looking for the manager to honor the long weekends you have been done out off.

its the manager that quotes the 3 week thing ,, i told the manager i had something arranged ,, he asked what ,, i told him it was none of his business ,, its not just about the saturday but the whole weekend actually getting 3 days off in a row

edit : also he should have had boys trained to cover these duties by now
