Unresponsive rep

I transferred to a different county last April to be near my very ill mother but had to take a 30 hour duty as that's all that was available. For one reason and another, all down to Royal Mail, my DOM was unable to change my details on the system for months. As a result, I was overpaid. I was well aware of this. However, in October my DOM was contacted to say that the amount overpaid was £801 and that this would be clawed back from my salary at 10% per week. So from the beginning of November I have had £23 per week deducted from my wages. I did all the calculations myself and thought that I was overpaid by about £300, a bit different from their figure! I discussed this with my local rep and provided him with all the figures and paperwork. He couldn't understand it so spoke to the area rep about it and forwarded all my paperwork to him. Now, 7 months later, despite numerous emails and phone calls to the area rep by my local rep and myself, there has been no response. I can only assume that it is not being dealt with and I don't know what to do. Any ideas?

Write or email Royal Mail Pay Centre with your calculations, pointing out that you believe that they have mistakenly taken back more than you owed, and you will be happy to receive 100% in next weeks pay.

Well, they don't decide how much you pay, you agree that with your manager after discussion.
I always recommend £1 a week. After all, it was their cock up, and who can afford to drop £20+ a week?
And this should only be arranged after they have proved what you owe, you should have seen the workings out etc.
I'd be tempted to file a grievance, it's been going on too long.

10% is the minimum they will take from your net pay. but before this happens there should have been a meeting where an agreement is reached that there has been an overpayment, how much is owed and how quickly it should be recovered. personal circumstances should be taken into account. no reclamation of pay should commence until h/r have been informed of the outcome of this meeting.

I did dispute the amount with them and sent them all my figures, they just basically said that what they said was right, which is why I then put it into the hands of the union. I was told that they would start deducting it from my salary in two weeks. I kept on asking my rep what was happening, if anything, but as I said , it is now 7 months later, they are still taking 10% and I've still had no response from the area rep. So I guess I'm screwed!

put a grievance in. if nothing else you'll have a paper trail. mention in the grievance you never agreed to the amount that has been and still is being deducted.
