Mold's postal delivery changes 'have been disastrous'

'DISASTROUS' changes to the postal service have left people complaing of lost letters and gifts.

Earlier this year customers in Mold and the surrounding area were advised of changes to their postal delivery service.

But Royal Mail's changes have not gone down well with some residents who have suffered a series of problems, including late, wrong and missing mail.

Mold town councillor Gareth Williams is one of those who has been affected. He said: “We used to have a good delivery service but it has been destroyed. It is horrendous now. There is no middle word for it.

“I know for a fact that at least six letters that should have arrived did not. Who knows what else? It has been a disaster.”

Facebook users have also been reporting similar postal shortcomings to the Leader since the changes were introduced which included delivery times being put back until later in the day.

Cllr Williams said his post was now delivered up to five hours later than previously.

Buckley resident Sonia Clennell said: “Over the last six months we have lost three birthday cards and my husband's payslip. We have filled forms of complaint in but nothing has been done.

“We no longer use the Royal Mail unless we do recorded delivery and even then a parcel was delivered from a family member which had been opened and the birthday present removed.”

Another Facebook user, Sharon Wood, said: “My son's birthday card with a gift inside from his auntie has been lost in the post.”

Cllr Williams said efforts to contact the Royal Mail helpline had proved fruitless having been faced with menu after menu and no option to speak with anyone.

He has since been told he may have a claim but added: “I am not interested in making a claim, I just want my post.”

He says he knows of several other people experiencing similar problems and added: “This situation has ended up costing one man money, simply because he never received a letter.”

A Royal Mail spokesman said the alterations related to the changing nature of the daily postbag - which now involved a far greater volume of parcels. “It means the introduction of trolleys and van deliveries,” she said.

“If anyone has concerns we would urge them to contact our customer services team on 08457 740740 or via the website with details of any specific incidents so the complaint can be properly logged and investigated.”

But in my WTLL session, I was 'treated' to a RMPTV show with Moya Greene in and it clearly said that the transformation and modernisation was going well and was successful....they wouldn't lie, would they? :whistle

I personal comment removed - Crammy you know the rules - its why you were banned last time and yet you claim you only post opinions. Opinions on general matters are ok - Personal comments of a pseudo-abusive nature are not.

To be honest, from what i believe, every office that has gone through this so called revision has been screwed up beyond repair. And nobody from local management upwards through the planners and area managers are willing to admit that the new system isn't working at all. We are currently in Stage 6 of the revision process, where the new deliveries have been imposed on us, and we use the mini yorks, and porters and all the double-prepping, and everything else that comes with it. We now have 3 times as much staff cutting off to finish on time, and bringing mail back, overtime claims have gone through the roof, and nobody seems to be doing anything about it. We were told as soon as the new system went live, that the planners would be on hand for the next 6 weeks in case of problems, i think we've seen them 3 times in that period. The whole system is a joke, we had guys still out on delivery today after 5pm, even though it's breaking the USO by delivering after 4pm on rural deliveries, they still care about the customers even if the company don't.

Cybitech: Check...same ere.
One P/T was told he wasnt needed, and hes desperate for the cash. Then 4-5 trays of mail are returned..."Too much mail/too busy..." etc.
So the lad lost money, mail wasnt delivered...again.
God help us in Sept/Oct when it starts getting xmas-busy again.

We can't cope with the current volume with these ridiculous new deliveries, once autumn and xmas pressure kicks in, everything is going to fall flat on its face.

This georoute system that they use is also useless, it came back saying that some duties were part time, and others full time, where they should be the other way round.

e.g. one of our duties that came back as a part time duty, requires 3 mini yorks every day for the stuff it gets, is exempt from IPS and double prepping when the 2nd wave of ail comes in, and you struggle to finish the delivery within 5-6 hours. Where as one of the ones that came back as full time, struggles to fill 1 mini york a day, can on lighter days fit his whole delivery in less than 1 tray, or on heavier days only requires 2 trays for his whole delivery and the delivery can be completed within 4 hours.

As i said previously the whole system is a joke. From what ive been made to believe by my union rep, a lot of the problems with the duties from the planners side is to do with the silly man in charge of the planners, who keeps rejecting things that the planners and local managers try to put into the revision.
