"Cooking the books"

Post by IloveMYredTROLLEY! »

No overtime being paid on walks that go over, duty holders asked to estimate what they need to not take out so they finish on time, because management think they have enough staff to get everything delivered without overtime.

Sounds fair enough?

But what happened to the 30mins of work time learning scheduled in the Tuesday indoor time guidelines? Once again, like at least 45 weeks of the year, it does not happen (and when it does it is nowhere near the national standard 30mins per week per OPG). It was effectively turned into getting OPGs to deliver 30mins more mail. :no no

Similar story a few weeks back on a Tuesday, only difference was that whole duty was taken out and finished on time (with a bit of time at the end to do some indoor stuff before contract finish time) on a walk that has not been completed within contract hours for months. Add 30mins work time learning that should have taken place and the round would have needed o/t to complete.

Same walk as above on another recent day (not a work time learning day), literally finished bang on time. But the records are unlikely to show that the D2D had been thrown in the day before and that general indoor work (portering, packet sorting, IPS etc.) was all complete in just 30-odd minutes instead of the normal ~60mins.

You can bet your bottom dollar that all the records will show is how walks are achieveable due to the mail volumes dropping in the summer. :cuppa

No. In my office, all WTLL sessions take 30 minutes, every week without fail. Even if the manager has little to say to us, we always ask plenty of questions to guarantee it last the appropriate amount of time.
We never used to have WTLL sessions, but we raised the issue with Area boss, as 'we felt we weren't being kept up to date with RM issues or get the chance to ask for info'.
Some staff don't like them and see them as an inconvenience, but I see it as 30 mins less mail delivery. And a chance to wind up the boss. :Very Happy
