Scanning RTS recordeds -do we have to?.
Could the collective wisdom of Royalmail Chat settle this disagreement I'm having with the PHG. Do we have to scan a return to sender/ uncollected recorded item at the customers door when it comes back to them. Surely all the customer pays for is the item to be signed for either at the address given or in the enquiry office? not when they're having it returned to them!. I await your reply!. Ps PHG SAYS YOU DO!.

I use the old school signature cards rather than PDAs, but I always get a signature for returning a Recorded back to the sender's address, it completes the cycle of the item through the system.

Yep, they have to be scanned as "Retention Expired/refused- return to sender or forward to RLB. Its part of killing the item off correctly.bakerstreetirregular wrote:Could the collective wisdom of Royalmail Chat settle this disagreement I'm having with the PHG. Yes-bakerstreetirregular wrote: Do we have to scan a return to sender/ uncollected recorded item at the customers door when it comes back to them. .
first scan as undelivered for reason (at intended receiver)
the DS scans as return to sender for reason. and returns it.
You scan as delivered. (at senders.)

Yes - Because that's the point when its delivered, even if it is a RTS.

Its colloquial name for a locker jockey or someone who is currently doing a role that use to be performed by a PHG.houseoflords wrote:WHATS A P H G ? Not seen 1 or heard of 1 for many years now, please tell me if they'd all emigrated and have now returned.
To be honest I don't see why some (not certain you have to be honest) posters take an issue with its use, its an accepted term like "Form Left" and everyone who has done a few years know what it means. If they don't we do have a list of colloquial terms on the board.

What happens if you have to slip a return to sender because they're not in and then they don't collect it ? Where does it go next ?

1) Into the Callers Office and endorsed by the postie Form left/Docket left dated and signed by postie with badge number and walk number.tomangoe wrote:What happens if you have to slip a return to sender because they're not in and then they don't collect it ? (1)Where does it go next ?
2) Callers staff scan the item into the callers with "Not delivered, No Answer" as its a recorded international or registered item.
2) At Callers office, after 18 days (for a non customs item) the items not collected and no return address, the callers office staff with put a red kill off sticker on it tick "not called for". And scan the item as not delivered, Forward to RLD, Retention Exceeded. Bagged up and sent to the outward department or duty dealing with RLB items..
3) In the event the item has a return address, after 18 days not collected, the item is given a red kill off sticker, and ticked with "Not called for" scan, Not delivered, return to sender, retention exceeded."
If the item is a Special, then the above applies, but the item goes to the cage with a docket with number of items.

You put anything in the bin (assuming you mean rubbish bin) that you've killed off and your heading for dismissal as this is not your call to make.UnhappyGremlin wrote:Or the bin.tomangoe wrote:What happens if you have to slip a return to sender because they're not in and then they don't collect it ? Re: Scanning RTS recordeds -do we have to?.
Sorry I think I should clarify the matter at little. The recordeds in this instance are to call people up for jury duty and we are the office to which all the (100's 0f) RTS are sent back to. My argument with the PHG was that why do we scan them for the court officals to sign for as surely the customer only pays for the signed delivery service once not twice . Its not as if we return RTS back to sender the next day if they are First Class?.
