collections revision

Our office is presently going through a resign and I am interested in applying for one of the afternoon collection duties of which we have 5 at present.These duties are monday to friday 10am to 5.48pm.They involve a small delivery and then collections. I have been warned off applying for these duties by my rep as we are due for a collections best practice revision and the rep thinks a duty and a half may be taken out. I am interested to hear if any other offices have gone through a collections revision and what was the effect of that revision ?

f you want it mate, you go for it. Don`t be warned off by someone who may have an ulterior motive**. one of our guys was talked into taking the dom assist job when it was offered just so one of the office favourites could get the walk he wanted.

You may be right as I think the DOM and rep do try to steer people into certain jobs

If you want the job take it. Every Saturday off, lie in. If it changes in the future, then deal with it then.

are your collections about 1and half hour to 2 hrs long? take your 40 minute break and you wont have time for half a walk

No they didn't.
The Rep said in the upcoming collections revision, a duty and a half may be removed, i.e. if there are 5 FT now, they want to drop it to 3 FT and 1 PT.
Try reading what people write, before jumping on what they or others say in response.

This was mentioned in my office, especially in relation to Saturdays and/or rural boxes. But it was vetoed by a DSM or their collections equivalent as it would have produced too many collection routes, and would be harder to manage. Though, as far as I know, it does happen around the country.
There is also the possibility that boxes are now going to be emptied more than once a day, due to the MC rationalisation programme, and not being able to cope with the levels of box mail going in too late, and so they're failing daily. It'll be busy boxes only, but it is a strong possibility apparently.

All boxes are allocated a time band and RM can not set a final collection earlier than this. This is monitored by the reguator. We have a couple of 18:30 boxes in small villages which we have tried to get moved earlier but it is not allowed

was just about to make that point...also if you cant complete the duty cut off and then go on your collection. simples. good luck though. if you want it do it. looke after number 1 first.
