As long we don't have hi tech monitoring and pay similar to their staff. I don't think they have the finances to buy Royal Mail. But again who knows.

I think you might have suffered a case of chinese whispers - The government have not yet decided what type of sale they are going to have, whether its going to be a share issue or a buy out. What you may have heard is that Amazon are doing some of their own deliveries, in fact a member reported that they had in fact had an Amazon delivery and spoken to the Amazon driver themselves.

They do have the finances with ease. Amazon's turnover / profit is absolutely immense.

If amazon wanted to go into deliveries it would buy TNT express, it wouldn't want to get saddled with the universal service, considering the sale to UPS just fell through I believe they are looking for another buyer. I doubt Amazon would really want to get into the delivery market though.

They are already well into deliveries ..... they have set up and running their own network for their own products. Had a delivery from an Amazon driver out of Milton Keynes who told me they are in the process of setting up national deliveries. Unmarked van with no livery however he told me he is employed by Amazon and that they have just increased his target from 80 to 120 drops/day, not sure of the area or his wages but he did say he didn't sign up for what has turned out to be a 13 hour day. Thoroughly decent bloke who looked like he is being shafted (where have we seen that one before?).

Think Amazon will get rid of D2D if they actually take over Royal Mail as they will want to improve parcel business and think door 2 door will slow down our work, But what will amazon do to their competition ie play.com. Will amazon have unfair advantage in undercutting prices with parcels delivery (plus no tax)

Surely any one with the right credentials and finance can buy RM ,and then it is up to them what they do with us ,ie keep us or brake us off.
Cannot believe anyone would want to buy letter delivery's with the USO .

Whist Parcel force and mail centres look attractive.

Doubt it. It would appear they have begun there own delivery services, presumably in towns and cities only, rural areas will be left to us.

No its not against E2E companies just the DSA ones, although there is some cross over like with TNT. Amazon use DSA but are not a DSA company themselves.
