You have to inform RM.
You cannot work for a competitor and there cannot be a conflict of interest.
You have to watch your total work hours,especially driving.
You will get taxed to the point where it will make you weep.
That's about it.

When I was working my 3 months notice before VR I had booked the final 2 weeks as AL. I was offered a 3 month contract with another firm but they needed me to start within my AL period. I wanted to clear it with RM and HR told me the only way they would allow it was to advance my LDOS by 2 weeks and I would need to forfeit my outstanding leave... nice

I spent quite a few years gardening as a part time job, a lot easier before all the changes when I got home at 11am. Ended up being swamped in the summer by requests for my services and led onto other things such as decorating etc. Work for yourself not for others, more money and you don't have nobs like post office managers telling you what to do.

wor kid works full time on deliveries at ours then does 15.00-1900 on collections for the mail centre mon-fri. he,s not asked or queried about his hours. good money, no time to spend it though. and you cant take it with you.

i thought it was about £40,000 where you go onto 40% tax
