It's a simple question. We are short of drivers in our office and as I'm a reserve, I get put on different driving duties on a almost daily basis and to be honest I think it's just not worth the hassle.
Can I refuse to drive for RM?

If your office is short of drivers the most likely outcome from refusing to drive is a move to another office to allow your office to recruit another driver.cyberheater wrote:It's a simple question. As anything, there will be a way round it.
Like finding driving stressful.
I would point out that, prior to P&L coming to my office, we were told by a manager that we couldn't be forced to drive.
Though most were, and were given conversions outside of their attendance times, which they showed up for. I wouldn't have.

Ta, Terrier. Ahh I see, for MGV and LGV's (3.5t and over 7.5t) only. Guess my clapped out Vauxy Combo doesn't count then

No not for large vehicles. Up until about 10 years ago anyone who drove got £6 per week driving pay. But that was canned as a saving, so those who were in receipt of it kept it as a grandfather rights payment, and anyone who started driving after doesn't get anything, with the exception of MGV grades, who don't get allowances but a higher rate of basic pay.Altrider wrote:Ta, Terrier. I think if you've done that RM driving course thing they can make you do any walk in the office, this is why i like to keep quiet about not having done it, i hate having to go more than a few miles outside the office

How would they choose from non-drivers who would have to go to another office? Seniority?
An acting manager told me i could be sacked for refusing to drive,plenty in our office can't drive so i don't see how RM could discriminate against someone for holding a driving licence(which was gained at my own cost over 20 years ago)
