NEC & PEC Election 2013

Pleased to announce that I will be standing for re-election to the NEC & PEC ballot papers are sent out on the 12th June. Don't forget to vote and my election address is below.

Major challenges face the CWU over the coming months and we must face these head on.

SAVE OUR ROYAL MAIL
We must fight privatisation all the way and oppose the idea of CWU having seats on the board. Postal workers won’t be conned by the promise of phoney stakes in the company and I will continue to oppose any deal for shares with the Government.

COMPETITION
I continue to support the fight against unfair competition and particularly the use of TNT to deliver mail in big Cities such as London and beyond.

BASIC PAY
I will continue to fight for enhanced basic pay and support the courageous stand currently being taken by members in POL to achieve this aim. In Royal Mail we must get an above inflation pay rise for two years as a minimum and a bonus scheme that delivers lasting benefits.

CROWN POST OFFICES
I will continue to oppose the ridiculous plans to franchise Crown Post Offices.

SATURDAYS
We must look at alternative ways to staff Saturdays in delivery and maximise Monday- Friday duties. This is what CWU members want and we must listen to this instead of telling people what’s good for them.

EXECUTIVE COUNCIL PAY
I continue to oppose any move to pay the Executive an inflated wage. The Executive shouldn’t be paid more than those they represent. This is not right, money should go to fund support for front line Reps in the workplace.

THE FUTURE
Business Transformation is dead. We must now concentrate on the future and ensure we get the best protection, job security and enhanced terms and conditions for postal workers. Alternative workforces on inferior pay cannot be allowed to undermine rights that have been gained over time
