hi there I currently work in a subs delivery office and we have 2 work time coaches working in the same office , I was wondering what royal mails policy on work time coaches is , is it correct too have 2 in the same office getting paid to only do half the job , as its nearly 1600 pound a year extra and is causing a bit of resentment in the office as they brag about getting full money and only have to do the bare minimum for the extra cash , I think this is unfair

Got one in our office and he doesn't do anything for it. If he did half the job it would be a miracle!

Work place coaching is being relaunched and expanded. The recommendation is that there is one coach per 25 people and that the coaches play a much more pro-active (horrible word) role in pushing up quality (i.e. sorting out the cock-ups).

Iam afraid there is too many blokes with clipboards not doing very much at RM to my mind they seem to have a cartel on the easy jobs i think this is the only good thing that will come out of privatisation when they break it down and clear out the deadwood.

To be honest I think you should keep your nose out as its none of your business. Let them get on with it. Sounds to me like your jealous because they got the worktime coach position and you didn't. Maybe this is down to the lack of work effort by you!

If I may be so bold as to offer the opinion that your statement is crass and is either evidence that you don't quite understand the role of the WorkPlace Coach, or that for some reason you have taken the comment personally.

If, as is happening here in my office, WPCs are getting involved in a quasi-disciplinary role, then its certainly our business not just to protect ourselves, but also to ensure that the WPCs are not used incorrectly by management, or that they are not tied down to roles that should rightly be the purview of management grades only.

Having read all the posts on work place coaches, I too work in an office with two coaches, and only 13 duties to coach. The poor old driver has to bag all the gone aways up, take all the empty perstorp trays out, and return all over issued door to doors to the manager. He seems to do more for the money than the ones that are being paid £32.50 per week, for sometimes answering the phone when the manager rings (once in a blue moon-easy money). I bet we all would like a wages boost of over £1600 a year for little effort, especially with overtime being underpaid, virtually every week, and duties being collapsed left right and centre, with everyone having to absorb the workload. Yes, Royal Mail seem to find money for certain things but when real work is done make it hard for you to get paid correctly for it. Any way i'm not bitter, it's a lovely job (no stress), management always treat us fairly, we all respect one another and work like a well oiled machine and get paid £80.000 a year. Sorry i slipped into another dimension there for a minute
