Why should the postie get all the grief from customers ??

Post by eastie »

With D2D's
Getting complaints from customers for miss deliveries when i wasn't doing the round last week.
flyers put through by leafleters who walk all over their gardens and break their letterboxes.
With late bank statements and hospital appointments from competitors mail.
Parcels not turning up or being delivered damaged and blaming the postie when it was a courior.
You can see I have had a bad day :arrrghhh

it's because we wear a uniform and that makes people entitled to treat us like sh*t because we cant retaliate without charges of bringing the company in to disrepute.
Just do what I do and blame TNT - don't live anywhere near London but most civvies have no idea how the postal system works do they!

Posties do get grief for sure, but don't forget the guys in box counter too who have to take the brunt of many an angry customer on a daily basis.....if it wasn't for the protective screen we have in our office I dread to think what would have happened to some staff in our office who have come across some, very, very aggressive folk.
What amazes me is what sets these folk off.....they can bring a P739 card in that has been posted to them that day....and clearly stating the packet they have come down to collect will not be ready for collection for anything up to 72 hours....and when we tell them their packet isn't here...they go off on one.....one gentleman I saw a few months ago made me chuckle....he refused to leave the office until his packet was handed over to him.....several hours later he was still there...several managers tried to explain to him his item had been posted back trough the system by his postie at the end of his delivery and would not be available today...he was having none of it.....sat there until we closed the office up at 8.00pm..lol..minus his packet....and as he walked out our office doors...the heavens opened up....not a good day for the gentleman.

Should learn to read then. Or be in when you order something.
I worked in a callers office a few years ago, and a guy came in for an SD. I asked to see ID, he didn't have any, told him he couldn't have it, he went mental, and asked how he was supposed to know he needed ID? I pointed out the bit on the back where it says so. He said, just give me my SD and I'll remember next time. He ended up speaking to a manager insisting I was wrong, got the same answer.
Why do they always act like it's our fault? Idiots.
Sometimes, I wish I wasn't a Rep.

Most people are f***ing idiots from time to time, some make a life's work of it. Hopefully their lives won't be that long as they'll no doubt run into someone as idiotic but more violent. Hate everyone, it saves time.

It seems that the postie is seen as being responsible for everything that is put through a letterbox - regardless of what it is.

Because we are the first point of contact. No different to being a salesman at say, PC World and you have a problem with your brand new laptop. Not his fault but he gets both barrels!

I just walk away from confrontation & politely tell them to call customer services. Saves a lot of grief!!

I did one better...one manager came into the box counter to get some change from the till for his coffee....as I was dealing with an irate customer who demanded to see a manager....I said you are in luck sir...here is one of our managers now( my gaffer gave me an evil look :evil/mad )...this customer then took out his frustration out about a lost item on this gaffer ......for another 10 minutes....as soon as the customer had gone...this gaffer pulled me to one side....and warned me never to address him as a manager in front of customers again or I would be in trouble...I asked him what would he like me to address him as in front of customers as I was under the impression he was a manager....he just gave me the :evil/mad :evil/mad look. And disappeared off to get his coffee ...some 20 mins later than he anticipated ....one of my colleagues who saw and heard what this gaffer had said. Told me to slap in a grievance, but I left it at that as I had heard RM was moving this 'manager' to another office.
