time scales for transfers

Hi All:)
Im looking to get a tranfer out of my office but no manager will tell me how long it will take or what I need to do to get the transfer.
Can anyone help on this?

It took me a year but im full time. I was in the DOMs office on a weekly basis complaining. I think its easier if youre part time

Do you know what office you hope to transfer to? If you do contact the DOM of that office and have a chat with them

I am in the same situation, wondering how long a transfer will take.

The DOM in the office I want to go to has spoken to my current DOM and my current DOM has said he will release me as soon as he is fully staffed. How long that will be, who knows!

I wonder now, how to 'play' things. Do I stop working days off when asked and become awkward or be as nice as pie and be totally obliging.

How will my DOM react, get rid of this uncooperative git or I should keep him as he's so good, therefore delaying my transfer.

Any ideas guys?

Uncooperative, but not OTT about it. I've not witnessed it 100%, but I have had chats with lads who've had the 'Do you think you'd be better off at another office?" speech.
If you go out of your way to be awkward, they'll see what you're doing and slow things down. In these shitty times, strictly working to rule should do the trick.

It is a fine balance. If I try to be Mr Perfect Postie, he'll want to keep me. If I become Mr difficult belligerent Postie, as you say he'll suss that and just delay things.

Just to let everyone know there is indeed a new transfer policy, it is actually 'explained' on the PSP system. Managers should be able to print off the transfer guide which explains how it's meant to work. Basically you register interest via this new system and if a duty comes up at one of the Units you wish to transfer to you should receive an email asking if you wish to transfer. Had much fun and games in last six months, firstly persuading managers that it exists and that they have to use it. In fact in my local area we have transferred members but only after having the conversation above and by myself and my fellow Unit Reps chasing the Managers to do things. This is not how it's meant to be. If anyone has actually used new system without hassle please let us all know.

So what do I do in my situation? The DOM in the office I want to transfer to has spoken to my existing DOM, telling him there is a vacancy. My existing DOM has said he'll release me but he thinks I have to be with RM for 12 months. People on here say 6 months, my rep says 6 months.

I need something in black and white to show him, does such a document exist?

Do I need to go through the system or can the DOMs sort it between themselves?

Once you have transferred,( in theory) you can't transfer for another 12 months.
I don't think there is such a time limitation for newstarts.
If your DOM says it is 12 months - get him to show you where it says that's. Put the onus on him to provide it in black and white.
