What is the "Delivery supplement"?

I think this has been asked before but I want to clear something.

Am I right in thinking this payment has nothing to do with D2D?

If its not, what is it?

But you can work FOR delivery function, without actually delivering anything.

I didn't say it was for working ON delivery but working IN delivery

Sure they do, though I was more referring to such people as Prio locker staff/callers office staff who get it, and in my office the admin staff also receive it. Don't actually perform any actual delivering of mail, but are tagged to and work in deliveries. There are, apparently, some in MC's that get it.

So, are we to assume then, that if a suitable admin vacancy crops up, and you apply for it and are successful, you will donate to charity each week, a sum equivalent to the delivery supplement you will still be receiving? I mean, to do otherwise would make you a hypocrite, would it not ?

MCs get a Processing Supplement - £8.39 in our place. Not sure if the amount is the same in all MCs as it was partly a consolidation of older bonus scheme money (PBS/ICS I think was part of it) and every MC was getting different amounts from the old schemes.

Not sure why anyone in an MC would get Delivery Supplement instead unless it was an MC that had a delivery office in the same building perhaps?
