everything has gone a bit quiet and the last time this happened,it got resolved quite a while after april and it wasn't back dated as far as I can remember.
Well except that its one of the questions in the Consultative Ballot.

Re: pay rise
How can there be an early deal when Royal Mail want a deal on pay which is dependent on the CWU agreeing to all the future issues including performance standards , productivity improvements and total flexibility.
Even if the union wanted to agree those things which it does not , the chances are by the time they are introduced we might have a new owner which at the moment looks like CVC who are hardly likely to recognise our existing agreements including MTSF , the IR framework let alone new agreements.
Whilst a pay rise is important , it is not more important then trying to defeat the sell off of Royal Mail , the attack on our pensions and the attack to our terms and conditions.

Re: pay rise
Of course not we can survive on the poor pay deals over the last three years and price increases ad infinitum - for those who haven't noticed everything's going up and it's quite difficult to manage without an expense account.

Re: pay rise
Do you really think Royal Mail are going to agree a pay rise which will go on the books of the new owner without that discussion with the Government and the new owner ? So what do you want a ballot on pay alone the last time that happened in 2003 apart from London there was a no vote !

I'm bored.
If we're going to have a row can we just have it.
What's left to talk about?

Well it keeps some in a lucrative job and the longer you chat.............fishtank wrote:I'm bored.

However to put things in perspective this isn't a ballot on action, it's a ballot on another round of chattering - so is there a time limit on the negotiations or is it a slow process until privatisation arrives and we can carry the whole process forward with our new employer............I mean if you're sat at the table who cares whose table it is?

Re: pay rise
I am with you fish but I am in a privileged place where I know the members I reprsent will deliver a big yes in not only the consultation ballot but a strike ballot. However before any war starts we better find out if the other members are ready ! Before we jump out of the trenches.

The feeling in my office is that they are up for a fight on pay defo.
However, privatisation - most were not aware of it looming till the ADR briefed them but luckily most see the "Shares" as another Trojan horse and thats got them onside. The Union I am afraid did not push this hard enough since the act was passed and most seemed resigned to it happening whatever they do.
Most aren't that bothered with the DSA but will support the Union.
Pensions, most are confused as to what is actually happening or not
The co-operation bit, its still unclear but as we are one of the offices that has PWHC in and high level rep involvement and it looks as though the full P&L won't be put in, most see this issue as having little effect on them personally and whilst they will support the Union its not a big issue for them.
They'll strike if asked but most likely if it comes down to a single issue then it will be on pay, nothing else.

Re: pay rise
And the "consultative ballot" is going to indicate if people are willing to strike on the strength of that ballot? Well I think that's a whole different ball game - what price a yes vote to a consultation as opposed to a strike ballot?dingo wrote:I am with you fish but I am in a privileged place where I know the members I reprsent will deliver a big yes in not only the consultation ballot but a strike ballot. Re: pay rise
well our branch sec said the consultative ballot will drag out the whole process for even longer. if people are consulted to see if they will be voting yes to go on strike, then the union will be asking the members later in the year. because if we are balloted NOW for strike action, then by law it must start within 28 days of the yes vote or become null and void. but if they know the members are willing to go on strike after the consultation.,,,,well then that ball game will be started nearer to christmas. as opposed to 'all out' in the summertime. makes perfect sense to me.dvbuk55 wrote:And the "consultative ballot" is going to indicate if people are willing to strike on the strength of that ballot? Yep a slow turning of the screw - sometimes its more successful than a straight out ballot and strike. Lets hope it is in the case.daveyeff wrote:well our branch sec said the consultative ballot will drag out the whole process for even longer. if people are consulted to see if they will be voting yes to go on strike, then the union will be asking the members later in the year. because if we are balloted NOW for strike action, then by law it must start within 28 days of the yes vote or become null and void. but if they know the members are willing to go on strike after the consultation.,,,,well then that ball game will be started nearer to christmas. as opposed to 'all out' in the summertime. makes perfect sense to me.dvbuk55 wrote:And the "consultative ballot" is going to indicate if people are willing to strike on the strength of that ballot? Only problem with that is do we have the time to wait about?TrueBlueTerrier wrote:Yep a slow turning of the screw - sometimes its more successful than a straight out ballot and strike. Lets hope it is in the case.
If CVC are genuinely interested things will move fast.
We'll look pretty stupid with our "fight privatisation" placards if the deal has already been done.
