Part-Time Fixed Term Contract

I have a sensed on here how much part-timers are appreciated........Anyway I have been in the job for 4 months and enjoy it.
I was pleased when I received my new contract in the post - however I have only been offered a post till the end of September. It says "the reason for your contract being for a fixed term is that it is anticipated the requirement for your employment is likely to cease on or about the expiry date because of business reorganisation."
I am only on 20 hours and so am desperate for extra hours but would I be better off putting my time into finding another job as there is no future in this one?
Or is it a standard line that means I will just be on another fixed term contract after September?
I personally think it would be pointless getting rid of people like me when they have invested time and money on training, uniform etc.........

More than likely you'll be offered a new fixed term contract when your current one expires. As far as i'm aware, it mentions 'business reorganization' etc on all fixed term contracts

Come september ul most likey get the same fixed contract for another few months. Chances are you may get perm, but may not

Even though my area is surplus after the revisions, those who are in the job for less than 6months were still kept even though their own manager diddnt need them, albeit they had to go to loads of different offices.

I was one of the last guys to get a F/T job in our office, this was about 7 years ago. Since then P/T the norm. Correct me if i'm wrong but RM are after P/T staff only (unless there is a severe shortage of F/T in the office)

Do a quick jobs search on the RM official website and you'll see virtually every postman/delivery position is for part-time hours.

just remember that each "renewal" is in fact a new contract although you don't lose any continuity of service, there is no guarantee you'll keep the same number of hours.
a dozen of us in my office have just been informed that we are very "lucky" and are going to be made permanent, the catch is we are all being dropped down from 25 hrs (5x5) to 21 (3x7).
just a few weeks ago our rep was thrilled to inform us that 50 MORE hours were being put in to the office to make more full timers.
a little basic maths tells us that nowhere near 50hrs are being put in just re distributed

I joined in Nov 2010 on a one year contract (25 hours) which was subsequently renewed every six months from Nov 2011 .. just been given a permanent contract on same hours .. the contract renewal blurb is standard issue.

I'm on a permanent, part time contract of 24 hours. I started in January. They do come up now and again, depends on the office I suppose.
