Popped into my DO today to find the car park is full and the office is full of managers from other DO in our sector. ..spoke to one of the managers who told me it was a meeting about a new sick procedure which he reckons sh*t will deffo hit the fan...should be interesting

I went to a briefing last week, it has and will be well publicised in the courier and wtl's. to me it looks bloody good in the world we live in now. standards the same. 4/14 =stage 1 2/10=stage 2. 2/10 = consideration of dismissal. but you can clear your name in 6 month's now.

Yes it is wonderful.
No appeals for a stage as per the old procedure.

in the real world, where stat sick pay is the predominant form of pay when off sick, and it amounts to bugger all, so why so much animosity to a sick procedure that has been improved for the work force beggars belief. a lot of people our in for one hell of a shock if [when] we are privatised.

same as suffolk said, the trigger stage is still the same, but you are only ''in jail'' so to speak for 6 months instead of the year. also if you come into work but go home sick after 10 or 20 mins then there are NO half days held against you. it does not count as a days absence. i am still pissed though, that we dont get a right of appeal at any of these stages which IMO is against human rights. ive said it before and i'll say it again,,,,even rapists and murderers are entitled to an appeal. but not royal mail staff.

so, say you're on a stage 1, 5 months later you have a week off sick, are you off the stage 1 after the 6 months? (from the original stage 1)
