Why would you live in a set of flats where the service button doesn't work and you don't get your mail.
I'm also sick of spending my time endorsing dozens of letters that I couldn't deliver.

yeah a pain for sure. If there's say 10 flats i'll buzz the whole lot if i'm feeling pissed off because of it, or buzz a few of the flats with letters, then the others. residents sometimes seem a bit confused you only have a letter for them when they open there doors, I just tell em the trade doors not working, sometimes they get it sorted.

I have this problem quite often, the management Companies that are supposed to look after these flats are always slow to do repairs on door entry systems . If I cant get into the flats after buzzing the occupants I just endorse the whole block of letters and try again next day.

If the trades button doesn't work, buzz the first flat that has mail and if they don't answer endorse it and walk away. There's no time built into a duty to ring dozens of addresses. If we can't get in for a full week all the mail gets killed off as inaccessible.

I find when people get no mail for days on end the locks tend to be fixed quicker.

I hate it when local housing group replace those buzzer, as I can't press every flat button all at once I hate new one which press 1 then wait then press 2 once finished. I haven't got the F****** time for it. If I can't get it after 3 attempts I move on. I hate delivering to flats.

It's very annoying.

Few months back I was standing in the Post Office after my round and a guy came up to me mouthing off about not getting his mail delivered to his flat. I told him the service button doesn't work and no one answered their buzzer. He rambled on about how he'd been in all morning and how i hadn't buzzed his flat.
The prick was probably KO'd judging by the smell of whiskey on his breath.

I could have handed him his mail there and then but i didn't let on i still had it

Yes. I had one today. It rang for a solid 20 seconds or so before it would allow you to press another button. I simply do not have the time.

I'm seriously thinking about buying a custom rubber stamp from ebay with the words "No access due to broken/faulty service button" and then stamping all those letters when I get back to my DO. Do you think the residents would finally get the message.

If it is not possible to deliver an item or P739 card to a building where access is governed by a controlled entry system (such as time locks), a completed P739 card must be attached to the item, the item and P739 returned to the delivery office and a P4306 label added to the item. 
You must attempt to deliver the item on each following working day (maximum 18-day period). On every occasion, the item must be taken out with the completed P739 card. Fireman's key? What the f*ck is wrong with you people? It's your job, not your f*cking hobby. Personally, I love it when you ring flats up and you can't get in. Endorsing the letters as no access is a lot quicker than delivering them in 9 out of 10 blocks of flats. I used to be on a Saturday rota with two blocks of flats you could never get in. And nobody answered before 10am on a Saturday morning. Saved me 10 minutes every time.
