I might be getting IHR offered this week but the union guy came and said theres a redundancy space available if I want it .

Question is what is the best option to take ?

You will need to find out how much you will receive for a redundancy and weigh it up against how much you would get for IHR and what you will also have to weigh up is if you do leave and apply for another job a new employer will ask why you left Royal Mail, if you tell a prospective new employer you left on IHR they may not be keen on employing you, your union rep should help you weigh up the options , Good Luck with whatever you decide.

Ihr..you get 34 weeks pay tax free...then 1 weeks pay for every year you have been there taxable. ...if thats any help to you

IHR is 34 weeks pay plus 9-12 weeks pay in lieu of notice and any holidays you may be due, redundancy will depend on your length of service. I would get your rep to find out how much you will get if you take redundancy and then weigh up which is best for you.

Yeah that's what I noticed . Surely TAX FREE would make it the better deal .

With EVR the 1st £30k is tax free.
