Pay rise or 37hr week?

I'm serious, I would rather the 37 hr week (same money). It's time the runners/early starters realise it is not a race to finish.

In reality there isn't enough scope to shorten the working day with park&loop deliveries.
If you have a 4hr15min delivery with 10 minutes each way travelling and 10 minutes for end of delivery tasks that's 4hr45min for the delivery element alone.
40 mins meal relief and an average 1hr30 for prep and tie down in our office takes you to 6hrs 55mins.
Even allowing for a 39hr week that only gives you 53 minutes IPS or double prep resource for a full-timer.

It could only be achieved by stopping paid meal relief(which we don't want) or innovative attendance patterns(which they don't want)....or shorter delivery spans which I can't see happening either.

37 hour week.............no thanks sold down the river on the 39 hour week............still doing the same job, same route,same ammount of calls (well more due to growth) but on paper they say its now 39 hours

Is the O.P. Moya in disguise?... Even the slowest walkers on the biggest walks can manage a bit of an early finish on a Mon & Tues in our D.O. and i'm guessing it's pretty much the same everywhere.

We can guess which days would be shortened to accomadate a 37 hr week.

It's not the same everywhere. Have you had your P&L revision yet? On some Saturdays we either work very close to our time or need to cut off, while on Mondays and Tuesdays it's even busier.

Yep we've had full P&L revision and every other day of the week we're working our full time or going over on all duties including on saturdays.

our mon & tues normally lighter, but loops are taken off wed,thur,fri on busier days.

We work longs and shorts, so any reduction in volume on Mondays and Tuesdays is more or less cancelled out by the later start time.

Typical whinge. If you dont like what you have then leave. Many folk out there would love to work 25 hours here. 25 hours at royal mail is the same equivilent of a person working 40hours in a factory on min wage, and theres alot of folk like that. Dont bite the hand that feeds you springs to mind
