LOCKER HANDOVER
Are there any fellow locker jockeys who use a P575 Revised 81 to do a handover or for any other purpose? We have been told that it must be used in future but having served in the locker for 10 years or so I have neither seen nor heard of this form before and the guy I handover to, who has 35 years service, has never heard of it either. Any help would be appreciated especially if it is no longer in use. We currently do a handover on count and it is formally entered on a log sheet. I asked the manager who says it has to be used in future how it is filled in and of course he had no idea: I said neither have we and we won't be filling it in any time soon so I am naturally "uncooperative" but who cares.

Never heard of it. We hand over a balance to the next bod in the locker. We do, however, use an ancient form (can't remember the P number) to record everything that goes in and out. Will have a look tomorrow to see what its number is. That was no help whatsoever....

Re: LOCKER HANDOVER
Thanks for that Johnny, on the contrary, every little helps - I've only been doing the locker for 10 years and I haven't seen one before the manager produced it today. The form number you use would be extremely helpful - thanks again.Johnny A wrote:Never heard of it. We hand over a balance to the next bod in the locker. Re: LOCKER HANDOVER
Its been sometime since I have been in the locker, from what I recall there is a sheet with how many is in the locker on take over and you fill in another sheet
with the similar thing, you mark how many goes out each time, keep the P739 to help you when counting at the end of the day, as well as what the driver brings with their collections,
they should balance out and you hand that sheet over to the next man.
I never heard of a log sheet myself, there is definitely a form used, I don't know the P number, it seems every office have their own way of doing things.

Re: LOCKER HANDOVER
Thanks NW - it's really the P number I'm after - although the manager has ordered P575 it doesn't remotely look like anything you'd use on a locker handover. I work from 5.45 to 11.15 and handover to the next guy with the number of Specials held on 001C. He works until 7 pm and obviously doesn't handover to anyone but despatches the collections on a separate sheet and hands them over to the driver who collects them for the MC, then records on the morning log the number of specials held over from the returns for the day. Obviously we need to do a bit more digging to find out precisely what it is we are supposed to be doing.NWpostie wrote:Its been sometime since I have been in the locker, from what I recall there is a sheet with how many is in the locker on take over and you fill in another sheet

Re: LOCKER HANDOVER
We do not have time to do that ...late shift posti locks the office door in the end of shift and next day early shift man open the office .... and thats it .... one side of the table is white sheet of paper for messages ( items which could not be found or re.delivery message from customers ) . Lots of cash in the locker ( customs and surcharge money) it would take an hour to count every thing and every day .... at least £100 every day taking from public . Our office work on individuals' honesty.

Re: LOCKER HANDOVER
Thanks human. That's more a callers office preserve, cash and parcels - though the cash situation is of interest in passing because there is an itemised check on the cash with yet another form but the callers office see to that. The handover is specifically for the Locker, which in our office is separate from the callers office with different staff. It is interesting that there has been so little response which leads me to think that it is not in common usehuman1 wrote:We do not have time to do that ...late shift posti locks the office door in the end of shift and next day early shift man open the office .... and thats it .... one side of the table is white sheet of paper for messages ( items which could not be found or re.delivery message from customers ) . well that could be because most who come on here are `proper` posties and not just playing at it having brews and reading the paper indoors when it is pissing down.dvbuk55 wrote:Thanks human. Re: LOCKER HANDOVER
Maybe the lack of responses is due to the fact that most offices are like 'human 1's place. Our locker is combined with the callers office too, and is run very much the same.dvbuk55 wrote:Thanks human. Re: LOCKER HANDOVER
Not sure if this the same thing, but the cage when they send specials down to the callers office they fill in a docket receipt that keeps a carbon copy in the hand over book. Top chitty goes down to callers office with number of item in bag.
When we send specials, tracks and customs up to the cage from callers office, we fill in our log with what is sent up to the cage and have a carbon copy in our book.
