Nobody knows for sure bigal383,and worrying isn't going to change anything,try and chill and just wait and see,so many things happen in life that we have no control over,whatever happens happens.

I was under the impression that the 4 months ( blitzkrieg approach ) was the order of the day, to privatise before the public can protest too much.

of corse there be massive reduncies. r.m cant make a profit at the mo so how you fink a private company will make a profit ? my guess is laying off at least 50% of full time posties. time will tell

i noticed the labour party did nothing to stop dsa.
royal mail is ripe for its property assets to be sold out.
and all postmen on zero hour contracts, just go on a go slow makesure you managers get as little bonus as possible.

It wouldn't surprise me if we were to be privitised for a lot of managers to be axed, I don't know what the legal minimum is per number of staff but if they can they might go for 2 managers in each office, one deals with paperwork and admin stuff and one on the floor

Don't think there is a legal minimum of manager to staff ratio. Technically, you don't even need a manager in the building from a legal standpoint. They are only there to make sure us lazy posties do our job. Or sack us to save money.
The law will only require that certain aspects are covered, such as a fire officer, a first aider etc. etc. And that doesn't need to be a manager at all.
In fact it is likely after privatisation, that manager numbers will fall dramatically, and will be replaced with team leaders on less money naturally. They'll likely have the same responsibilities as managers do now, but will be cheaper for RM. For example, in my office there are about 270 staff and a DOM plus 6 managers, after privatisation, that will end up as DOM, 1 or 2 managers, and 4 or 5 team leaders. And I wouldn't rule out the possibility that DOM's will split their time between 2 - 4 offices.
