prepping walks

got told of by manager today for not throwing all a part timers walk in best thing was it was all done even stopped on the walk when all the sorting was done 2nd time i have been done for this now. pissing me of big time think the chap who's walk it is has it in for me get asked every day to do this walk to.

are there any guide lines for prepping walks what time you have to stop on that walk till ? i no some leve loads in our office but they get away with it.

how far did u get prepping this duty?.... did u even get the 2nd lot of sequance mail in, d2d, packets, redirections? explain where u got this duty to and how far they wanted you to go

All mail was in all that was left was drop bag to do

All i do is get mail up to when the last van comes in. We are in p and l so they have an hour to put packets in and bag up. Takes around 5 mins to put in last sequencing mail in. I even sit and have there d2ds prepped for them to put in. I refuse to do more when i see p and l guys 1 on sorting and 1 prepping the 2 duties. And when the other guy comes off the sorting, he has a full duty already prepped as does his partner waiting on the last lot of mail to come in. Once the last mail comes in, them 2 same guys are working on there own duties whilst im expected to do my own and then go and finish off what i was doing prior, in other words 2 twice as much. Highlight individuals and the office as a whole to why this is unfair. To be honest, in 2 hours, i can get 4 duties all the way up, but not including packets. It depends on the speed of the individual, maybe your good at what you do and there trying to get a little bit more from you?

As a part timer nothing pisses me off more than coming in and seeing nothing on my walk thrown in! Most of the time its done, but lucky if D2D's are in, 2nd lot very rarely, and I've never seen packets put in ever!
I don't know if its bad management, or just full timers thinking its more important to get their walk put in first or something? but when i started at RM a manager said everything would be done and all i have to do is bag up? This happened for about a week, then i was left doing pretty much all prep.
What is actually meant to be prepped for a part timer?

Yer its a part time walk that gets paid 1 hour over time every day to do it no clue how that works

and delivery span, indoor element if any.

Basically there is no hard and fast rule beyond that you only have to perform those tasks you are trained for during your contract hours. If there are not enough hours, or you haven't been trained on the task, then approach management its their mess let them sort it out.

At our place the preppers keep getting moved around and they have no chance to complete a prep. Also FTs have their own indoor work plan and it has specific timings, and if they have the same problem as you (too much work/too little time) then they have to do the same, approach the manager - its then their decision which can be either to continue prepping PTs, or start prepping their own.

Managers are ultimately responsible for making sure the workplan is adhered to, and that all the work is done, so even though PTs get angry when they see FTs finishing their prep before them their anger should be directed at managers not colleagues. (it should also be the same when the FTs see PTs finish their outdoor element before them).

Thanks for all replys. I'm a new postie starting on Tuesday! I play football on Saturdays (when the season starts again) and was just wondering if I could still play realistically. Finishing at 1 would be fine !

Realistically no. Depends on your office but finish times are getting pushed back generally. And don't believe a word your manager says, he doesn't give a s**t about you.

Of course you can play football on saturday.Come in an hour early make sure you have no door to doors to do.If you have dump em on a frame nearby. Dont take a break . Forget redirections. Then get out and run round. Dont worry there wont be a gaffer when you get back anyway.Its ok dont worry that some old buggers still got two loops to do on park and loop in the pouring rain you have a good game pal!
